Don and David Wiest's Blazing Tui ($2.10, Corey Callahan) set a new track record for 2-year-old trotting geldings with a 1:57 4/5 victory in his $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) elimination Wednesday at Harrington Raceway.
The Yankee Royalty gelding improved to three-for-three lifetime with a front-end romp over Youcancallmeroy and Lebanon Levii. Trained by David Wiest, the win came on co-owner Don Wiest's 96th birthday.
Meanwhile, 2-year-old filly Vamoose ($3.20, Eddie Dennis) equaled her own 1:59 1/5 track record in the first filly division. Owned by Rodney Wyatt, E&K Racing and Kevin Peck, Vamoose, a daughter of Anders Bluestone, controlled the tempo from post seven and was a comfortable winner over Franchesca and Leap Year. Vamoose improved to three-for-three in her career for trainer/driver/co-owner Dennis.
In the next filly division, Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi's Daringly ($2.10, Callahan) was a 1:59 4/5 winner over Dassie and She Is Unstoppable. The Southwind Frank filly improved to three-for-six in her career for trainer Ron Burke.
