Harrah's Philadelphia: Twin B Joe Fresh dominant in Betsy Ross romp

Twin B Joe Fresh sizzled around the Harrah's Philadelphia strip on Sunday, effortlessly drawing away from a solid field to capture the $100,000 Betsy Ross Mares Invitational in a track record 1:48 2/5 clocking. Dexter Dunn, who co-owns the Roll By Joe-sired 4-year-old mare, guided her through a 26 second final quarter as the prohibitive favorite.
Dunn had Twin B Joe Fresh on the gate at the outset but was out-sprinted by Zanatta into the opening bend. Zanatta took the field to the 26 3/5 opening quarter before yielding to Lit De Rose and driver Pat Lachance entering the homestretch. Lit De Rose's lead was rather brief as Dunn put Twin B Joe Fresh in gear, and the mare responded to get the front before the field hit the next turn.
Once in control, Twin B Joe Fresh hit the half in 55 seconds and awaited the challengers. Though Coachellabound N would come on the offensive first-over, followed by Always B Naughty, the pair were unable to gain enough traction to threaten as Twin B Joe Fresh hit three-quarters in 1:22 2/5 and took off from the field with instant acceleration.

A 26 second final quarter, with Dunn motionless in the sulky, put the finishing touches on the win, with Always B Naughty gamely out-dueling Coachellabound N for the second spot. Sent off as the 1-5 choice, Twin B Joe Fresh returned $2.60 to win. Owned by Dunn, trainer Chris Ryder, Pete Trebotica and Barry Spak, Twin B Joe Fresh was a winner for the first time as a 4-year-old and for the 20th time in 29 lifetime starts.
"This is exciting to see her come back so well," said Ryder following the race.
The 1:48 2/5 clocking equaled Twin B Joe Fresh's career-best clocking taken last year over the mile track at The Red Mile.
