Harrah's Philadelphia: Seven Colors, Save America tie track records

On a Sunday afternoon of speed at Harrah's Philadelphia, the 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action turned in fast mile after fast mile.

Racing in the final $51,583 split, Seven Colors (Tim Tetrick) surged to the lead off a third-over trip and won by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:48 1/5, equaling the track record for a sophomore colt pacer. Annapolis Hanover (Hunter Myers) was second and Tip Top Cat (Yannick Gingras) was third. Stormalong (Jordan Stratton) set the stage for the rapid clocking after putting up fractions of 25 3/5, 52 4/5, and 1:19 4/5 before fading to fifth.

Brian Brown trains the winning Stay Hungry colt for owners Country Club Acres Inc., Joe Sbrocco, Bill Elliott, and Milton Leeman. This was Seven Colors's fifth lifetime win, he has now earned $76,209, and he paid $12.20 to win.

It's My Show (Scott Zeron) improved to four-for-four this year after taking the opening $51,583 section in 1:49 1/5. He cleared Ammo (David Miller) to take charge racing to the 54 2/5 half and went on to defeat that rival by three-quarters of a length. Lyons Surfing (Tetrick) put in a solid effort from first-over and wound up third.

The winner, a Sweet Lou homebred for Richard and Joanne Young, is trained by Linda Toscano. It's My Show pushed his bankroll to $124,965 and returned $2.40 to win.

Ervin Hanover (Gingras) yielded to sit in the two-hole behind favored Bamboozler (Todd McCarthy) prior to the 54 1/5 half in the second $51,183 flight, then out-footed the chalk through the stretch drive to score by a length in 1:49 2/5. Larceny (Joe Bongiorno) grabbed third.

Burke Racing Stable LLC., J&T Silva Stables, LLC., James Simpson, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. own the Ron Burke-trained Ervin Hanover, a colt by Captaintreacherous. Ervin Hanover made his fourth appearance in the winner's circle, has pocketed $242,761, and paid $13.00 to win.

In the companion Pennsylvania Stallion Series, Save America (Gingras) tied the track record for a 3-year-old gelding pacer after rocketing through stations of 26 1/5, 54, and 1:20 2/5 on his way to a 1:48 1/5 decision for trainer Nancy Takter. 3 Brothers Stables and Caviart Farms own the son of Captaintreacherous. Takter would also win the last of the five $20,000 Stallion Series groupings with Cannibal (by Sweet Lou) in 1:48 3/5 with Zeron driving for Diamond Creek Racing.

Also taking a pair of Stallion Series tests was driver Todd McCarthy, as he tallied with Hungry Man (by Stay Hungry) in 1:49 for trainer Tony Alagna and owner Brad Grant, and Command (by Captaintreacherous) in 1:50 1/5 for trainer Brett Pelling and owner Diamond Creek Racing.

Binge On Yankee (by Stay Hungry) prevailed in the remaining Stallion Series showdown, turning a pocket trip into a 1:50 4/5 victory for Bongiorno and Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Brad Grant, Larry Karr, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
