Harrah's Philadelphia: Pocket trips pay off in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes

Twisted Destiny, Wedlock Blue Chip and Louprint rallied out of the two-hole in the lane to win their respective Pennsylvania Sire Stakes battles for 3-year-old male pacers on Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia.

With Todd McCarthy in the bike in the first $40,322 tilt, Twisted Destiny cut the quarter in 26 4/5 and then yielded to a brush by favored Captain Optimistic (Dexter Dunn) before the 54 3/5 half. Captain Optimistic went on to reach three-quarters in 1:22 2/5, but McCarthy and Twisted Destiny vacated the pylons on the final bend, passed Captain Optimistic and went on to tally by three-quarters of a length in 1:49 4/5. Papi's Rocket (Yannick Gingras) finished third.

A Bettor's Wish colt bred by co-owner Let It Ride Stables Inc. with Dana Parham, Twisted Destiny is trained by Chris Ryder. Alberg Racing LLC. and Enviro Stables Ltd. are the other co-owners of Twisted Destiny, who has seven wins and two seconds from 11 starts to go with earnings of $124,914. He returned $5.00 to win.

Railroad Station (Yannick Gingras) front-stepped through fractions of 27, 55 4/5 and 1:23 2/5 in the next $40,722 flight, but Wedlock Blue Chip (David Miller) angled out of the pocket before the top of the lane and surged by Railroad Station in the stretch on his way to a 1 1/4 length decision in 1:50 3/5. Railroad Station had to settle for second and Charge Me Up (Tim Tetrick) collected third.

Roland Mallar trains Wedlock Blue Chip, another colt by Bettor's Wish, for owners Richard Cortese and Donald Hawk. Wedlock Blue Chip, bred by Let It Ride Stables Inc. with Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc., made his seventh trip to the winner's circle from 15 appearances, has pocketed $156,426 and returned $8.40 to win.

The final $40,722 division featured a showdown between last year's Metro champion Fallout (Tetrick) and Breeders Crown/Dan Patch Award winner Louprint (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.), and the former led the latter at the 28 second quarter-mile mark, the 56 1/5 half and the 1:24 three-quarters. Louprint was right on Tetrick's helmet all the way and after Wrenn Jr. fed him to the outside on the last turn, Louprint sprinted up to and around Fallout in the lane, defeating him by half a length in a 1:50 2/5 mile. Go Go Grasshopper (Jason Bartlett) checked in third.

Ron Burke sent out Louprint, a son of Sweet Lou, for owners/breeders Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and Phil Collura and co-owner Larry Karr. Louprint has a summary of 10-2-1 from 13 trips behind the gate, has put away $798,821 and paid $2.60 to win.
