Yannick Gingras steered Pink Gypsy and Baptism to their first career victories in a pair of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes divisions for 2-year-old filly trotters on Friday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia. Pink Gypsy sped to the lead from post four and reached the opening quarter in 27 4/5 in the first $81,286 flight, but she would yield to sit in the pocket behind Dreamonhigh (Joe Bongiorno) past that marker. After taking charge, Dreamonhigh clicked off a 58 2/5 half and a 1:26 3/5 three-quarters and was able to repel a first-over bid by Dixiechick Hanover (Dexter Dunn) on the way to the latter station. When Dixiechick Hanover began to back up on the last turn, that gave Gingras a path to come to the outside before they turned for home, and once he fed Pink Gypsy clear racetrack, she surged past Dreamonhigh and then pulled clear to win by a length and a half in 1:55 3/5. Dreamonhigh held second over Ebbies Lady (Ake Svanstedt). Ron Burke trains Pink Gypsy, a daughter of Father Patrick, for owner Crawford Farms Racing. Pink Gypsy, who was bred by Jorgen Jahre Jr. and Kentuckiana Farms LLC., has earned $65,507 to go with a 1-2-0 record from five tries. Pink Gypsy is the seventh foal out of the Yankee Glide mare Margarita Momma (1:53 4/5, $609,276), making her a full sister to Amigo Volo (1:50 2/5, $1,571,044). She was sent off at 10-1 and returned $22.40 to win. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter In the other $80,886 section Baptism and Gingras left from the pole position and secured the two-hole behind Tie One On (Anthony MacDonald), who hit the quarter in 27 4/5. Gingras then vacated the pocket and moved Baptism to the point, and she was well-rated through a 58 3/5 half and a 1:27 1/5 three-quarters, giving the cold shoulder to a first-over attempt by A Perfect Helen (Jeff Gregory) in the third quarter and around the final bend. Baptism dispatched A Perfect Helen for good before the field turned into the lane, and through the stretch drive Baptism never had an anxious moment, reporting home 2 1/4 lengths to the good over A Perfect Helen in a 1:56 mile. Danznqueen Hanover (Troy Beyer) tracked A Perfect Helen from second-over and turned that trip into a third-place result at 31-1. A daughter of Southwind Frank, Baptism is trained by Ake Svanstedt for Diamond Creek Racing. Diamond Creek Farm bred and retained Baptism, who is the first foal out of the unraced Chapter Seven mare Fall From Grace, a half-sister to Archangel (1:50, $1,140,946). Baptism has one win and two seconds from three appearances, has banked $62,907, and paid $7.40 to win as part of a Svanstedt entry that was the 5-2 second choice.
