Harrah's Philadelphia: Melmar Melmar heads Liberty Bell victors
It was a chalky ending to the three $30,000 Liberty Bell divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers on Friday night Harrah's Philadelphia as favorites posted a perfect record.
Chiapanecas turned a pocket trip into a 1:52 4/5 win for Simon Allard, Ron Burke and owner-breeder W.J. Donovan in the first split. She defeated Debut (Jack Pelling) by a head, and Ginger Tree Belle (George Napolitano Jr.), who led through panels of 27 4/5, 56 3/5 and 1:24 2/5, ended up third. Chiapanecas, a daughter of Stay Hungry posted her third win and went into six figures in lifetime earnings.
Pressure Cooker (Corey Callahan) took her third straight stakes victory in the next grouping as she put fractions of 27 4/5, 57 1/5 and 1:25 en route to a 1:52 3/5 victory. Angels Legacy (Marcus Miller) and Duffy's Opinion (Pelling) rounded out the top three. A daughter of Heston Blue Chip, Pressure Cooker is trained by Linda Toscano for owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Bottom Line Racing LLC. and Mac Nichol. The Best Bet Stables LLC.-bred made her fourth appearance in the winner's circle.

Melmar Melmar (Pelling) also kept a win streak going in the last section as she scored by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:51 4/5 after putting up a 27 1/5 quarter, 56 second half and 1:23 3/5 three-quarters. I Am The Fire (Stacy Chiodo) was next, followed by Fight Not Flight (Callahan). Melmar Melmar, bred by owner South Merrick Stables in partnership with Andrew Berg, has four consecutive triumphs. This was the first in stakes company for the Brett Pelling trainee.
