Harrah's Philadelphia: Favorites dominate in rookie Sire Stakes
Some of the fastest Pennsylvania-sired 2-year-old pacing fillies were on the track at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday afternoon to compete in a pair of $89,832 Sire Stakes to gain valuable points to make the September 1 finals at The Meadows.
As has been the norm, stallions Captaintreacherous and Sweet Lou shined, with the first division going to ‘The Captain’ and second to ‘Lou’, both timed in 1:51 3/5.
Treacherous Reign got the ball rolling in the opening division by brushing to the front passing the 27 2/5 opening quarter and never looking back in her 1:51 3/5 mile. The Tony Alagna-trained daughter of Captaintreacherous bred by White Birch Farm, rated a soft 56 1/5 half before accelerating with a 27 1/5 third quarter and gamely holding off the bid of Stonebridge Soul.
She’s Allright finished third.
For Treacherous Reign ($3.20), it was her fourth win in five career starts. She bumped her bankroll over $100,000 with the victory.
Warrawee Ubeaut waited behind a hot early quarter of 26 3/5 before driver Yannick Gingras edged the daughter of Sweet Lou-Great Memories off the pylons on the second turn. After a 55 4/5 half by Rockn Philly, Warrawee Ubeaut would charge up and blow by before the 1:23 3/5 three-quarters clocking and never look back in the 1:51 3/5 mile.
Rockn Philly held for second over a fast-closing Philly Hanover.
Warrawee Ubeaut ($2.10) is now four for five in her career under the care of trainer Ron Burke and has earned $135,908.
