Harrah's Philadelphia: Captaintreacherous-sired fillies sweep in PA Sire Stakes

Greg Reinhart|May 29, 2022
Treacherous Dragon 5-29-22
Grace Zimmers Treacherous Dragon is now three-for-three in 2022

Treacherous Dragon and Boudoir Hanover turned in front-stepping victories in the two $68,116 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes races for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia.

Starting from post four in the first flight, Treacherous Dragon (Tim Tetrick) moved up two-wide and cleared Queen Of Success (Andrew McCarthy) for the top spot before the 27 second opening quarter. Treacherous Dragon would then hit the half in 55 2/5 and the three-quarters in 1:23 4/5.

Captain Cowgirl (Jordan Stratton) who went first-up from fifth in the backstretch, moved up to put some pressure on Treacherous Dragon on the final bend, but the pace-setter handled that pretty easily, and then kicked away in the lane to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:50 4/5. Queen Of Success wound up second, followed by Dont Fence Me In (Scott Zeron).

Brett Pelling trains Treacherous Dragon, a daughter of Captaintreacherous bred by White Birch Farm, for owner Hot Lead Farm LLC. Treacherous Dragon has a record of 7-4-1 from 13 starts, and she has now earned $358,920. She was the 2-5 favorite and paid $2.80 to win.

In the other flight, Boudoir Hanover (Todd McCarthy) blasted out from post four and forced Lydeo (Mike Wilder) to back off into the pocket going to the 26 2/5 opening quarter. McCarthy then faced no pressure in the second quarter, so he put on the brakes and reached the half in just 55 4/5.

The tempo increased dramatically from there as Boudoir Hanover picked it up to 1:22 3/5 at three-quarters, blunting a first-over move from Yes And Yes (Yannick Gingras). Niki Hill, the defending Dan Patch Award winner for this division who was making her seasonal debut, was following Yes And Yes from second-over for Dexter Dunn, but when Dunn sent her three-wide on the last turn, she got rough-gaited and then rolled into a break.

With Niki Hill out of the picture, Boudoir Hanover didn't have much issue sealing the deal, with a 28 second last quarter getting her a 2 1/2 length victory in 1:50 3/5. Lydeo wound up second and 40-1, and Yes And Yes held third after getting the cold shoulder from the eventual winner.
