Race 1 - Claiming $12,500
A pair of winners in their most recent starts square off here, and of them, 6 - REGAL HOPE gets a slight edge on account of two factors: his two moves to secure victory at Pocono last out and his having done so for $12.5k. Nap takes over the lines on this 43-time winner, too. 1 - ROCKY J SQUIRREL struggled in $15k races for Ceba Horsey earlier in the summer, but got the job done from the pocket in his first try for new connections. Pole can keep him close once again on the slight step up. 8 - MYIDEALSON N set the pace in last Wednesday's $12.5k event locally, only to be reeled in by More Dragon. Outside leaving ability can help him get involved; good mid-price option for exotics as such.
Race 2 - Claiming $10,000
7 - CHARGER BLUE CHIP closed a hefty gap to win at odds-on last week, and he's lifted to take two of his last four. Back with similar again, 2 - RUFO wired $10k types at Pocono three back, but was softened up two back and mired in traffic since. Inside draw can keep him close with ease; clear sailing is a must. 1 - ROLL WITH FRED improved belatedly for second behind Charge Blue Chip last week, but was no factor from astern in previous outings. Pole can help him establish better early position.
Race 3 - F&M Non-Winners 3 Races or $30,000
5 - SHOTGUN PERSUASION was a fairly consistent minor player in Stallion Series races this summer, staying even from where she landed in the initial stages - not really gaining, not really regressing. After her second-place finish here on Aug. 20, she gets a significant drop to a level where she chased to save second in her first start back. She's much more fit now. 2 - SWEET TALKER invades from Pocono after closing steadily on the outside to take second in N2L company. Forgive her failed three-wide push three back, but give credit to her sweeping bid from astern into second four back as well. Nap opts on this stone-cold closer. 1 - JOE'S SIGN goes from fence to pegs this week after improving belatedly to earn the last cheque on arrival. Staying power isn't in doubt; the pole can help her make better use of it.
Race 4 - Non-Winners 1 Race
5 - HOLY MOMENT finished second in his last four starts, and has done so from on or close to the lead or off cover alike. That versatility can give him enough of an edge in this largely paceless race. Enough to like. 4 - GALVESTON pressed and stalked his way into the money in five of six this season. Raw speed and staying power are ample for this group; he's just a little below what he needs to be to graduate. 7 - MAD MAN HILL jumps up to face older company for the first time, but he's shown promise in his three starts to date. Despite a sixth-place finish in his Meadows Stallion Series outing due to early exertion, he still paced a 1:53 mile over a track that tends to play about a second slower than this one. He seems his best when prominent, and he's got a stout enough late kick if he can avoid early exertion.
Race 5 - F&M Non-Winners $7,000 Last 5 Starts
3 - MANHATTAN PLAY was better than even in two tries a level above this one since arriving from the NYC metro area. Two weeks ago, she was simply too far away from strong fractions thrown down by Queen Lostris N - who went on to hold fourth three levels above this one in her last start. Before that, this one just missed from a cosy stalking trip. Lots to like; even more if you can get 4-1. 5 - SIDEWALK DANCER was no threat last week behind Apple Hanover, but wired a comparable field to this one in her previous outing. Keeps Nap; mind value. 8 - SUDDEN PASSING can yield value in the Hi-5 on a second straight step down, as can 2 - PIRAEUS, who improved to hit the board in two of her last three at this level — both at double digits.
Race 6 - F&M Non-Winners 5 Races or $50,000
6 - SHE'S NUN BETTOR N has thoroughly impressed since arriving from New Zealand, winning under pressure and from the breeze alike, and showing she can absorb a lot of heat and lift off cover as well. Form and versatility can carry her up this slight step up on arrival. 2 - ARDEN HANOVER improved well to hit the board in three of her four Stallion Series events this season since arriving east. Cosy draw gives the stalker-closer a good striking spot. 3 - WINGDING HANOVER drew off boldly at twos-on last week, but now has to face a significant step up. Pressing ability demonstrated two back encourages.
Race 7 - F&M Non-Winners 1 Race
8 - MISS TANGO takes on older again after minors in her last three at this level, but her raw speed edge is as clear as they come. Tim's choice. 1 - PAIGE'S GIRL qualified respectably last week. The 3-year-old makes her career debut from a cosy starting spot, and her closing speed is more than ample to contend. 7 - BETTORS LOVE improved mildly from astern on debut; expect better second out. Can add value to deeper exotics.
Race 8 - F&M Non-Winners $14,000 Last 5 Starts, 7 Races or $70,000
Today's feature offers a number of credible options and shapes up as extremely wide open as such. 4 - MACHNHOPE is my slim call after hitting the board against tougher in three of four and charging late from post 8 at Yonkers to just miss Preferred company there by 1-1/4 lengths. She's got all the tools to succeed here, but there are others in the group with similarly strong form who can topple her with the right trip and pace scenarios. 1 - GOLD ORCHID N is among them, if she's on her 'A' game. She shipped up to Woodbine after pressing for third in a local winners-over on July 5, but only mustered one win in three starts there - and even then, a narrow score off cover a level below this one. At her peak, she's more than capable of this task, but is she there? Demand value. 7 - QUEEEN LOSTRIS N is moving in the right direction, for sure. After wiring fourth-level foes, she double-jumped and chased evenly to save fourth behind the tough Apple Bottom Jeans. Splits the difference here.
Race 9 - F&M Non-Winners $10,000 Last 5 Starts
6 - DELISHKA N failed to fire in her last couple races against tougher, but she did reach from the pocket against tougher three back at Pocono. Easier await on arrival; Tim opts aboard over three others. 3 - BYE BYE FELICIA made good late inroads from astern at Yonkers in her last after mixed results in upper-level races in Pennsylvania through July and August. She beat tougher both six and seven back, note. 4 - AMADEROSA drops to her most recent winning level after even tries against tougher only yielded a couple minor cheques. Must be prominent for best, it seems.
Race 10 - F&M Non-Winners $4,000 Last 5 Starts
5 - ZOE ELLASEN had her work cut out from her from post 8 last week, but held in pretty well through a first six furlongs in 1:23 1/5. The start before, she stayed on enough for third with tougher. This kinder midfield draw will help her immensely, and Tetrick opts to stay on over two others. 1 - DARKRSHADOFPALE N gets a pass from her last at Yonkers due to an interference break. Looking deeper on the page, she demonstrated pressing and chasing ability with just tougher at M1 on both sides of the layoff. Pole lands her close in this manageable spot. 2 - MAY BRIDE HANOVER rises off a powerful Ocean win, and this switch to three turns can help lift her raw speed even more. That said, be mindful of value.
Race 11 - Non-Winners 1 Race
2 - GAMBLIN MO drops in from Sire Stakes events, where he was largely overmatched from rearward journeys. Class and post relief can lift him; raw speed edge noted. 1 - MOVE THE LINE chased OK for third at 12-1 at this level last week after minor placings in his first three tries. Pole keeps him close with ease. 6 - COALITION HANOVER exits stakes company after being largely outmatched. He shouldn't have to chase such a fast early pace this time - that seemed to yield his undoing in Stallion Series races.
Race 12 - F&M Non-Winners $2,500 Last 5 Starts
5 - JANUARY A bottoms out after failed chasing bids from worse than midfield in two local starts. Raw speed is ample, and Tetrick's back on — they nearly won together three back. 1 - OUIJA chased for third twice in her last three at this level, with the lone miss due to an early break. Pole keeps her close with ease. 2 - HEAVENLY BET can benefit from post relief in this second try back at Philly. Forgive her Aug. 17 Pocono outing on account of interference in traffic.
Race 13 - F&M Non-Winners 3 Races or $30,000
2 - SOMEBEACHSOMEFRA looks for back-to-back wins after brushing into a :27 2/5 third quarter and digging in late last week. She's won two of four - from middle moves and overland grinds alike. 3 - FASHION HILL kept on well from the pocket in her local debut last week, and her recent 1:52-range miles are ample to be a contender in this group. Solid stayer won well from the pocket at Scioto four back. 1 - SWEET ACE chased for a no-match second behind the rising Wingding Hanover last week, and did OK for minor cheques in the Stallion Series. Pole keeps her close.
Race 14 - F&M Non-Winners $4,000 Last 5 Starts
5 - FAITHFUL DESIRE steps down on arrival after earning minors in five of her last six. She didn't lack for pace in tougher assignments earlier in the summer; this step down may be the key. Demand value. 4 - DOROTHY'S LEGACY pressed and stayed on to hit the board in two tries since dropping to this level. Improving form encourages. 6 - HURRICANE CALLEIGH gains Nap amid a string of mixed results in recent outings. She's got enough staying power to round out exotics on this slight step down.
