BEST BET: A ROCKNROLL STAR (16th) SPOT PLAY: ONE EIGHT HUNDRED (6th) Race 1: Non-winners $15,000 in last 4 or 10 races or $100,000 life/Opt. $50,000 Clm. (2) CAMARA MOMENT drops back to the level of his last win and gets a narrow call in a race with many possible winners. (7) NONE BETTOR A has loads of class and comes off a win. Maybe this old guy has more left in the tank. (4) TAM MAJOR hasn’t lost a race in months but does come off a scratched-sick line. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G (3) COURTSHIP faced horses last time that would trounce this group and typically when I see a very bad line out of nowhere I simply toss it out. I’m looking for a rebound here. (2) PORT ROYAL HANOVER gets a serious class drop out of the top Sire Stakes level and should respond nicely. (1) ARSON got the same drop as #2 last time and perked up in a hurry. [DRF BETS: Wager on today's Harrah's Philadelphia card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G (6) TARGET AQUIRED comes off a nice effort in the TSS last time and should be forwardly placed. (2) DE LA HOYA HANOVER is another one that seems right at home in this class. He rallied nicely to be second at Pocono most recently. (7) STEELY KNIFE hasn’t missed the board in five starts this year. You have to think Gingras will have him forwardly placed as well. Race 4: $51,657 PA Sire Stakes 3YO C&G (7) IVY PARK was huge in defeat last time and perhaps he can steal this race if likely heavy favorite (3) RUSH IN chooses a conservative approach. The latter has now won three straight and will not go down without a fight. (1) SOLID CHARACTER has come back this year in good form but will need to step up his game to get more than an exotics finish. Race 5: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G - Pick 5 (7) AMERICAGREATAGAIN has been keeping good company in the top level for Pennsylvania and could be in line for a major awakening today. (2) ROCK THE CAPTAIN N has been unlucky to catch two off tracks in his two tries this year. His start two back wasn’t bad at all. (6) DREAM BIRD added Lasix but still tired last time. Sometimes it takes a start to do its magic. Race 6: Non-winners $11,500 in last 4 or 8 races or $80,000 life (1) ONE EIGHT HUNDRED should be ready to roll now with a couple of starts under his belt after well over a year on the sidelines. Notice the driver change to Gingras this week. (5) IWANNABEWITHYOU and (4) TWIN B SEAMONSTER have speed and form. Both are dangerous if the top one doesn’t fire. (8) STORM THE COURT adds Lasix here off a pair of good effort, which is odd. Coming off the scratch line and drawing outside make him a bit of a question mark. Race 7: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G (5) ANTE UP HANOVER won his last start in this class by more than four lengths. Driver change here back to the trainer but he is capable enough. (2) AINTBLUENOMORE should try to fire out around the rail horse and secure a pocket trip, perhaps behind the top pick. This gelding is good at chasing. (1) JK PARCELLS seems to be an ok horse; trip threat. Race 8: $51,257 PA Sire Stakes 3YO C&G (2) SIR JOHN B chased home a monster in Total Stranger last time. Hard to say how good this guy is but we should find out today. (4) CAPTAIN SKIPPY was a decent second in his debut. In a race without obvious early speed, this seems like a guy who might take a shot. (1) ARMADA HANOVER has been good versus better lately; clear threat. Race 9: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G (4) WOMEN LAYER has won five straight and there is no reason to believe the streak will end today. (6) COPPERFIELD should be in prime position if he leaves as has been the norm lately. (2) FIG NEWTON has been turning in good efforts without a win to his credit this year. Race 10: $51,657 PA Sire Stakes 3YO C&G - $10K GTD Pick 4 (6) CAPTAIN ALBANO had to do some work as he was serious tested in his 2024 debut and still got the job done. Trip is likely going to come into play today but I think he’s in a better spot since he can either go to the front or follow #5. (3) SWEET BEACH LIFE got a nice trip and posted a career-best mile last time at Pocono. He should offer great value and might just use his early speed to get the right trip again. (5) GEM QUALITY is certainly in the picture as one of the top pacing colts in North America. He’ll certainly be a factor here. Race 11: $100,000 Betsy Ross Invitational (3) TWIN B JOE FRESH probably wasn’t tight in an overnight race to begin her 2024 campaign. Still, she did all she could and raced very well to be second. Expecting a much better effort here, though I doubt she’ll be on the lead. (8) SWEET AMIRA looks like a private purchase by trainer Ron Burke and his team a couple of weeks ago. She was a high-quality filly last year and qualified back very nicely. She could certainly blast out here. (4) ALWAYS B NAUGHTY rarely throws in a bad mile and is capable of a big one at times; contender on best. Race 12: $100,000 Maxie Lee Memorial Trot (6) VENERATE was in an impossible spot fourth over and then had a foe break in front of him last weekend in the Cutler Memorial. I’m mainly trying him here because there is a lot of potential early speed and the race flow could set up nicely for his style. (5) DOVER IN MOTION comes out of the same race as the top pick and raced very well after a first-over move. Five-year-old has never missed the board in 2024. (6) BENJAMIN HANOVER has turned into a killer this year and deserves plenty of respect at this point. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: $100,000 Joe Auger Memorial Pace (5) RUTHLESS HANOVER returned from vacation with an insane 1:47 1/5 victory over this track last Sunday. He also owns a 1:46 3/5 win here in 2023. He’s the speed of the speed and impossible to defeat on this track if he brings his A game. (3) KEN HANOVER took a more conservative approach and came up just short in his 2024 debut. Four-year-old has plenty of early speed if Miller wants to use it and that could have him chasing the top pick with a chance to beat him if that one falters. (8) BYTHEMISSAL may very likely turn out to be the best horse in this division by season’s end, but in his first start from post 8 on a smaller track, he’s a bet against unless you can get 5-2 or higher. (4) VOUKEFALAS hasn’t been put in play. Will that change tonight? I don’t know. Race 14: $50,000 #Senditin Philadelphia Invitational (3) MAXIMUS MIKI is arguably facing a slightly lesser field this week than the one he defeated at The Meadowlands. He seems to love taking air on the rim and can go all day long. (4) SOUTH BEACH STAR is fast off the gate and capable of motoring down the road versus almost any competition. (1) BACKSTRETCH SHADOW comes off a nice effort at The Meadowlands but seems unlikely to be on the lead this week; needs the right setup. Race 15: The Stallion Series 3YO C&G (3) LOUNAR ECLIPSE was thought to be a talented young horse but took some time to hit his best stride. He rallied very willingly last time and seems to be on the improve. (2) STEVEN’S SALOON faced some pretty nice company in that last qualifier and might have needed the start after missing a week-plus. This barn has been hot and I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy was ready. (5) TWIGGS PUB could be firing off the gate and if that happens he’ll likely get a piece of the pie on the low exotic end. Race 16: $15,000 Claiming (3) A ROCKNROLL STAR is way down in class and has no excuses for failure. (2) CLAYTONS BETTOR N raced ok in his first start for new connections. He’s winless in 16 starts this year and seems likely to be chasing the top pick. (7) KINGSTON PANIC gets a steep reduction in his claiming price; awakens?
