Witherite - PHL (through Oct. 11 – 66 days) Top Selections – Overall - Win %: 351 for 927 ITM: 648 for 927 - Win Dividends: $1,542.00 - $2 ROI: $1.66 Pick-4: 2,4,6/3,4/3,4,5/2,7 ($18) Best Bet: Miss Tango (Race 7) Spot Play: Whiskey N Coke (Race 3) Race 1 - Non-Winners $4,000 Last 5 Starts 5 - WAGON MASTER drops markedly from $25k claimers after a pressing bid in his last came up short and stalking bids before that were OK for minors. September success with similar encourages. 3 - IDEAL WHEEL drops another level and draws inside after two straight eight-holes hampered his earning power. Nap's choice. 2 - BELL I NO won for $30k as recently as August, but hasn't done much since. In his last couple local starts, he stayed in touch despite posing no threat from astern. Far easier await. Race 2 - Non-Winners 3 Races or $30,000 3 - ANDELA gradually worked into a no-match second at odds-on last week to continue her string of respectable chasing efforts at this level. Forgive her line four back - exertion from the outside left her struggling in the later stages. 2 - CONTEPARTIRO DEO came in from Freehold two weeks ago and was just better than even off cover despite posing no threat at all to President. Kinder draw can help this minor stakes player work to within striking range a little easier. 5 - KHEDIVE was fourth or better in four of his last five at this level, from pocket and cover trips alike. He was flat from the pocket in his last two, but this group shapes up as more manageable save for the above pair. Race 3 - Non-Winners 1 Race 1 - STAR SPEAKER had to work for the pocket in his last and did well to maintain second at 18-1. Pole lands this capable stayer nearer the early action with ease. 5 - WHISKEY N COKE pressed into a head-stretch lead at Rosecroft last Wednesday before being eclipsed. He brings a strong form cycle into this tougher group; he's hit the board in half his starts this season. 7 - COALITION HANOVER's 1:53 3/5 mile on Sept. 25 is the fastest on the page, and despite having to face older company today, he figures to be at least a minor player in this group if he can work into striking range more effectively. Race 4 - Non-Winners $2,500 Last 5 Starts 7 - BOMBAY HANOVER dropped to this level last week, pushed clear, and held third after being overpowered off the home turn. Almost identical circumstances await today; form at the level noted. 2 - ROCK THE NITE was softened up by sustained pressure at odds-on on the step down to this level in his last. He keeps Nap after that outing and a well-earned fifth off cover at M1 against tougher. 6 - OUTCRY pressed and faded in his last after chasing to stay in touch from astern twice before. Tries three turns; can improve some with a kinder journey. Race 5 - Non-Winners $4,300 Last 5 Starts 2 - JUDGE KEN was a good third behind Lefkada at London two back, and lost all chance more recently due to an early break. The switch to three turns should yield a smoother dispatch, and this represents a step down. 8 - TIDQUIST pressed well through the far turn last week and only missed by a half length after forcing the pace to quicken. Ability to sustain progress at this level and slightly above is mighty encouraging. 6 - MIAMI dropped to this level last week, and did well to parry pressure from Tidquist before giving way late. Those two did the bulk of the work in that race; late lift out of traffic to just miss two back encourages. 4 - SHIVERED drops a level after a slightly better than even effort from astern at Pocono, and 1 - ABSOLUT UNCERTENTY, who was a pocket winner against bottom-level company three back, looks to take advantage of the pole for at least a small share. Race 6 - Non-Winners 3 Races or $30,000 1 - BANG BANG BOINGA hit the board in six of his last eight at this level, and fought gamely under pressure to post a 1:55 mile in his last. Pole serves to keep him sharper longer. 3 - TEST MY NAUGHTY B seeks her third straight score at this level after widening her advantage to the line on Oct. 16, but, 1.) how will she be after scratching sick last week? and 2.) what kind of value will she yield? 6 - ALYVIA DEO was victorious on arrival last week. The daughter of Trixton hooked three-wide out of traffic and surged forward at 8-1. Marcus opts away this time, though. Race 7 - F&M Non-Winners 1 Race 6 - MISS TANGO didn't miss by much from the pocket in either of her last two tries, and was a solid third in the breeze the week before. She's hit the board in 8 of 11 so far, and this group shapes up as far more manageable. The filly to beat. 4 - MARIE HAS MOORE circled wide off the home turn to make decent ground at 40-1 two weeks ago. She's improved from midfield or worse to hit the super in three of her four starts to date; midpack draw should land her closer. 2 - CAVIART LUCIA was better than even on debut, making ground steadily into the fastest parts of the race. Expect sharper coming right back, but be mindful of value. Race 8 - Non-Winners 3 Races or $30,000 4 - SEA OF LIFE dropped to this level on arrival from the Kentucky Sire Stakes, and given that he had to work hard to clear from post 8, raced extremely well. Post relief can more than reasonably lift him the rest of the way; class edge is clear as day. 3 - TRANSPARENCY won three of four career starts to date, all over the Rosecroft oval and all from off the pace. Stout finishes encourage immensely. 7 - GALEVSTON finally broke maiden last week, and he did so with authority after scooting clear on the home turn. Wide draw makes for a little tougher of a task on the rise, but he has amply staying power and versatility to stand a shot for a minor at a decent price. Race 9 - Non-Winners $11,000 Last 5 Starts Today's featured event offers more than a few viable options, including one who was a good third to Tiger Thompson N at this level a couple Sundays ago. That is 3 - MAC'S BIG BOY, who landed close before being locked in and chasing to save third in a :26 4/5 last quarter. Forgive his line two back on account of early exertion to clear and a strenuous first six furlongs. 4 - RAZOR'S EDGE is sharpening up quite nicely, as is evident by his fast wins against lesser company the past two weeks. He can set or stalk the pace alike; that 1:49 4/5 score last Friday proved a lot. 5 - TACT TATE N rose from a third-level win to finish a strong second at 84-1 after clearing from post 8 and yielding for the pocket. Much kinder draw makes him an even bigger threat. Race 10 - Non-Winners 1 Race 7 - BOOM CITY saved a share of second from an earned pocket last week, and now has hit the board in four of six. Staying power with similar is clear. 2 - ROBBIE PEV was the other half of the tie for second last week, and he earned it after rallying off cover through the home turn. Staying power is improving steadily. 4 - PARKER FLY was shuffled badly in the same race, but managed to close four lengths of ground in the stretch after shaking free. Clearer sailing and a clean start make her a threat at the right price. Race 11 - Non-Winners $2,500 Last 5 Starts 2 - MR HASANI N chased evenly to preserve third at 40-1 in a tougher race last week, and while one of many to drop to this level, won in his last start at this level and steps down from a respectable outing. 1 - CANDELL drops in from $12.5k claimers, where he chased respectably for minors at big odds. Pole keeps the decent stayer close with ease. 3 - DRAGON STRIKES rode the pocket to victory over similar seven back, and looks to capitalise on the step down after being hemmed in or caught too far back in recent tries. Can share with more favourable circumstances. Race 12 - Non-Winners 1 Race 7 - MASTERY toiled late after exerting early in his last, but he chased and stayed on well to hit the ticket in four straight before that. Form edge and raw speed advantage noted in this group. 2 - WARRAWEE VICTOR hit the board in five of six, and has demonstrated wide leaving ability and mild closing ability as well. He seems most comfortable when on or near the pace; this draw enables him to get there easily. 4 - ROCK ON LOU has shown steady improvement in recent weeks. Presser-stalker type makes sense to include in exotics despite being 0-for-23 in his career. Race 13 - Non-Winners $4,000 Last 5 Starts 7 - JK MUSICMAN is reunited with Nap after posing zero threat from astern in his last two Pocono tries. He almost lasted against two levels tougher than this one when he was last here on Oct. 9. Great spot to bounce back. 4 - BLAYDE HANOVER pushed forward into a :28 4/5 third quarter at Yonkers last out, but tired in the slop. He fought well for a bottom-level win here four back. 2 - ROUGH ODDS circled to win two back, and chased pretty well on the rise to this level on Sunday. Stalker-closer can present as a credible minor option again. Race 14 - Non-Winners $7,000 Last 5 Starts 8 - FABRICE HANOVER hit the board in three of five at this level or tougher. Simon opts to stay aboard the presser-stalker despite the wide draw. 6 - OFFICIAL DELIGHT failed to fire last out, but kept up better from the pocket two back. This shapes up as a kinder third-level assignment. 2 - EFFRONTE A won well at odds-on last week, but now steps back up in class. The good news: He pressed to just miss at this level on Oct. 18.
