Greg Reinhart|Jul 11, 2021

The third leg of Indiana Sires Stakes races for sophomore pacing colts and geldings and the first round of the same event for 2-year-old male pacers took place on Sunday night at Harrah's Hoosier Park.

1-5 favorite Virgo (Trace Tetrick) brushed into the lead after the 57 1/5 half in the first $35,000 flight for the 3-year-olds, then drew off in the lane to win by three lengths in 1:50 4/5. Whiskey Wizzard (Brandon Bates) was second, followed by Rockinsomewhere (Ricky Macomber Jr.).

A gelding by Always A Virgin, Virgo is co-owned by trainer Dylan Davis in partnership with Howard Taylor and Jeffrey Billings. The Dustin Miller-bred Virgo is now a five-time winner in his career, and he has banked $166,567. He paid $2.60 to win.

Hoosier Cup champion Rockin On Venus (Mike Oosting) delivered off a pocket trip in the second $35,000 split for the group, charging home in 25 2/5 to win by a length in 1:51 3/5. Goldie's Legacy (Sam Widger) led through fractions of 27 4/5, 57 3/5, and 1:25 4/5 and wound up second, with Saddle Up (John De Long) back in third.

Kelly O'Donnell trains Rockin On Venus, a Rockin Image colt, for owner/breeder Emerald Highlands Farm. Rockin On Venus went winless in two starts as a 2-year-old but has won seven of ten in 2021 and has pocketed $109,875 overall. He returned $2.40 to win as the 1-5 choice.

In the final $35,500 section for sophomores, Skyway Victor (Tetrick) seized command approaching the 54 2/5 half, continued to lead to the 1:22 3/5 three-quarters and through the lane, and held on to defeat a flying 47-1 Ultimaroca (Charlie Conrad) by a nose in 1:50 2/5. Caption This (Lewayne Miller) got third.

Skyway Victor is a gelded son of Tellitlikeitis and is trained by Erv Miller for owners Engel Stable Of IL LLC. and Jerry Graham. Skyway Victor, who was bred by Michael Schlabach, made his seventh appearance in the winner's circle, and he has now earned $100,345. He was sent off at 4-1 and paid $10.40 to win.

Dalby Hanover (Joey Putnam) surged from seventh to first in the back-half of the opening $48,000 tilt for the freshmen, with a 26 1/5 final kicker propelling him to the victory by three-parts of a length in 1:53 1/5. Bowie Rocks (Macomber Jr.) finished second, and Oneshotatthetitle (L. Miller) collected third.

Bred by Hanover Shoe Farms Inc., Dalby Hanover, a gelding by Rockin Image, is trained by Britney Dillon for owner Charles Stein. Dalby Hanover was making his pari-mutuel debut off two qualifiers over the oval and returned $40.80 to win as a 19-1 offering.
