Harrah's Hoosier: Pick 5 analysis for Friday 9/25

Harrah's Hoosier Park will put forth a spectacular 15-race card on Friday, September 25 that includes seven stakes worth at least $100,000. Guaranteed wagers are offered in the 12th and 13th races, with a $25,000 Superfecta promise, and the 15th race with a $15,000 Hoosier High 5 pool. All three of those pools are part of the late Pick 5 which is highlighted below.
Race 11: $120,000 Elevation
(5) SOUTHWIND GENDRY is my lone single in a very tricky sequence. The Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion seems to be over whatever caused his issues four starts back and looks to be a step or two faster than this group. If you are looking for other horses, (4) WHAT'S YOUR BEEF has experience over the track and has a chance if the top pick falters.
Race 12: $140,000 Hoosier Park Pacing Derby
There are tons of options in this field and the best advice is to avoid any favorite, if you can figure out who it will be. (10) DORSODURO HANOVER is a horse I thought would have a huge year but has taken his time getting into gear. He's now firing on all cylinders and should still offer good value. (5) WORKIN ONA MYSTERY seems to do his best work near the front and I'll be shocked if that isn't the plan this week. (1) AMERICAN HISTORY was burnt to a crisp on the engine last time in the CDN Pacing Derby and paid the price. Now he's back under the watchful eye of Tony Alagna via his Lexington base and gets his regular driver in the sulky; price-play potential at 12-1 morning-line.
Race 13: $150,000 Caesars Trotting Classic
If they finally take the kid gloves off (6) GIMPANZEE, this really is a great spot for him to shine. Hopefully Brian Sears will have him fired up to leave the gate and work into prime position to strike in the lane. (8) ATLANTA couldn't have looked any better in the Maple Leaf and the only question is whether she will bring the same firepower when she leaves the gate harder this week, because there is no way she is racing from behind. (2) CRYSTAL FASHION & (9) GUARDDIAN ANGEL AS are other contenders.
Race 14: $20,000 Ryan Wilcox Memorial
Wide-open race and I'm putting my chips in the baskets of those who have the biggest upside in terms of pure speed. (1) MYKINDACHIP, (2) NEW TALENT, (3) YANKEE BOUNTY, (4) PRAIRIE PANTHER and (6) CAVIART STETSON all seem capable of a sub 1:50 mile and seem to be in the best position to deliver one on Friday. If I had to toss one from the quintet, it would be #6.
Race 15: $17,500 Gerry Kazmaier Memorial
(5) SHADYJAKE isn't my favorite horse in terms of form but seems to have a tactical edge in a field that lacks early speed. (11) SOME NOBODY switches into what seems like a better class and picks up Dexter Dunn. He has a big shot if the trip works out from the second tier. (2) I'VEGOTAGIRLCRUSH was doing his best work with De Long in the bike and he's back tonight. (7) SECRET THREAT drops out of claimers and adds a Hall of Famer to the bike.
.50 Ticket: 5 / 1,5,10 / 6,8 / 1,2,3,4,6 / 2,5,7,11 = $60
