Harrah's Hoosier Park: Why Not Now remains sharp in Indiana Sires Stakes

Greg Reinhart|Oct 06, 2023

Why Not Now, coming off a Grand Circuit victory in the Jenna's Beach Boy last time out, tallied in Indiana Sires Stakes action for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Friday evening at Harrah's Hoosier Park.

Driven by Lewayne Miller, Why Not Now brushed from third to first going to the 55 second half in his $50,000 tilt and went on to a 1:52 decision for co-owner/trainer Dylan Davis and co-owners Howard Taylor and Jeffrey Billings. Why Not Now, an Always A Virgin colt, tallied for the seventh time and has banked over $370,000 lifetime.

Buzzsaw Russ (John De Long) converted a pocket trip into a 1:50 4/5 triumph for driver John De Long, trainer Missy Essig and owners Russell Beeman and Charles Weaver in the other split. A Rocking Image gelding, Buzzsaw Russ made his eighth trip to the winner's circle and is just shy of $450,000 in earnings.

Two $49,500 flights for 3-year-old pacing fillies also took place, with It's Corona Time (Ricky Macomber Jr., 1:53) and Walkin On Sunshine (Jay Cross, 1:52 4/5) emerging victorious. Jamie Macomber trains It's Coronoa Time, a daughter of Aracache Hanover who picked up her seventh lifetime victory, for owners/breeders William Switala and James Martin, and Cross also trains Walkin On Sunshine, by Always A Virgin, for owners Maynard Miller, Daniel Lehman and Michael Yoder. This was her sixth tally.
