Harrah's Hoosier Park: Three-year-old pacing fillies compete in Indiana Sires Stakes
A pair of divisions of the third leg of Indiana Sires Stakes action for sophomore pacing fillies took place on Friday evening at Harrah's Hoosier Park, with victories going to Incredible Show and Rockin Nola.
Incredible Show (Sam Widger), sent off at 19-1 in the first $49,500 split, was eighth and fourth-over through stations of 26 2/5, 56 1/5, and 1:25, but she closed five-wide and in 25 2/5, getting up to prevail by three-parts of a length in 1:51 3/5. 4-5 favorite Fully A Virgin (Mike Oosting) was second, followed by This Peach Rocks (Ross Leonard).
Trainer Mark P'Pool also co-owns Incredible Show, a daughter of Shadyshark Hanover, with partners John McGill, Hen-Shaut Stable, and Steve Collins. She is now a four-time winner, and she has pocketed $45,095. She returned $40.60 to win.
Rockin Nola (Joey Putnam), the defending sire stakes champion for the group, grabbed the other $49,000 section in 1:49 4/5. She completed a first-over move into the lead going to the 1:23 three-quarters and scored by a comfortable 2 1/2 lengths over Glorious Virgin (Trace Tetrick). Play For Pay (Brandon Bates) came in third.
The victorious daughter of Rockin Image is trained by Joe Putnam, who also co-owns with Suttons Bay Racing and Novi Trot LLC. She made her ninth appearance in the winner's circle, and she now shows $240,350 in earnings. She was the 1-5 favorite and paid $2.60 to win.
