Harrah's Hoosier Park: Owleo's Pride dominates in Kentuckiana Stallion Management pace

Owleo's Pride romped to a 1:51 1/5 victory in the Grade 2 $200,000 Kentuckiana Stallion Management for rookie pacing fillies on Friday night at Harrah's Hoosier Park.

With Trace Tetrick in the bike, Owleo's Pride brushed to the front beyond the 26 1/5 quarter, then went on to reach the half in 55 2/5. Owleo's Pride would get separation on the rest of the field on the way to the 1:23 three-quarters and closed it out in 28 1/5 to prevail by nine lengths. Mystical Jk (Kyle Wilfong) wound up on poor cover from second-over and had to settle for runner-up honors, followed by Fauvette Hanover (Scott Zeron), Fantastech (Marcus Miller) and Skyway Elegant (Dexter Dunn).

Iwillalwayslouveu (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) fell on the last turn but fortunately both driver and horse emerged uninjured.

"She's a very nice filly. She gets a little emotional at times," Trace Tetrick said. "During the first turn, she got pretty aggressive, and she wanted out more than I wanted her out at that time, but it was the right move to make.

"Once she got back to the front, I was pretty confident. I didn't have much traffic getting back there, so it all worked out real well."

Trainer Ricky Macomber Jr. also co-owns Owleo's Pride, a daughter of JK Endofanera, with Jamie Macomber and breeder James Stonecipher. Owleo's Pride has a summary of 3-2-2 from seven starts, has earned $196,280 and paid $3.20 to win as the 3-5 favorite.

"She's the one that's kept me in the business for sure. She's 20 years old now, in foal again, and she's delivered some wonderful offspring, including this Owleo's Pride," Stonecipher said abou Owleo's Pride's dam McFlirty. "She was a great racehorse and she had great heart. Owleo's Pride is just like her.

"Ricky Macomber has been fantastic, keeping his head together with her, keeping her calm and keeping me calm. His patience is wonderful with horses, so I owe a lot to Ricky Macomber."
