Mr Bear and Tell Me It's You impressed in victories in their respective Indiana Sire Stakes divisions for rookie pacing colts and geldings on Friday (August 28) at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
It was all business for Mr Bear, driven by Marcus Miller for trainer Erv Miller, as he cruised to his sixth straight victory to start his career, taking down the first $64,500 split.
Sandwiched in the middle of the field, Mr Bear eased out of post three to survey the five-horse field before firing up to the lead at the first quarter in 27 2/5. Leading over Nu Chex To Cash (Anthony Miller), Mr Bear held the field close as the pacers followed single-file to the halfway mark in 56 1/5. The field remained unchanged in the lead-up to the final turn as Mr Bear set the tone through three-quarters in 1:25.
Down the stretch, Mr Bear didn't offer any reprieve, focusing on the wire. Nu Chex To Cash tried to offer a burst of pace from second, but Miller guided the post time favorite through the finish line in 1:50 3/5, prevailing by 2 1/2 lengths. Nu Chex To Cash glided into second, while Another Mile Again (Trace Tetrick) maintained third.
