Harrah's Hoosier Park: Loua Dipa victorious in USS Indianapolis Memorial
:quality(75))
Loua Dipa, with Ronnie Wrenn Jr. in the bike, snapped out of the pocket and blew right by favored stablemate She's A Bulldog to capture the Grade 3 $125,000 USS Indianapolis Memorial for 3-year-old filly pacers at Harrah's Hoosier Park on Friday night. Ron Burke trains and co-owns the homebred Loua Dipa, who stopped the timer in a stakes record-equaling 1:49 mile.
Loua Dipa left hard from the center of the track to gain control over Topville Lucky heading into the first turn. She's A Bulldog, with Yannick Gingras, was sent off as the 4-5 favorite and settled in third as Loua Dipa cut the opening quarter in a snappy 25 4/5. Wrenn Jr. put the brakes on in a major way through the second quarter, and that forced Gingras and She's A Bulldog to hustle to the front. It was a quick move, but still the half was just 55 1/5.

She's A Bulldog put the pedal down, making it impossible for an outer flow to develop as I'm A Lou Lou and Daya chased in futile fashion on the rim. She's A Bulldog hit three-quarters in 1:22 3/5, and from there it was a two-filly race, with Wrenn Jr. coming off the pylons and Loua Dipa responding, as she has during a brilliant two-year stakes run, with an explosive rally, pacing home in 26 1/5 to win in-hand. She's A Bulldog finished second with Somemore Blue closing late for third.
Owned by breeders Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Loua Dipa won for the 16th time in her career. By Sweet Lou, Loua Dipa returned $5 to win.
"I wanted to place her forward tonight," said Wrenn Jr. "I was happy to take the trip behind Yannick's horse. On the last turn she felt like her old self."
Breeders Crown runner-up Whoomp was a late scratch from the event.
