Harrah's Hoosier Park: Friday's $30,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Analysis
?q=100)
Harrah’s Hoosier Park will present the 30th Dan Patch Stakes on Friday night and in honor of the number 30 they will offer three $30,000 Guaranteed pools – Pick 4 (Races 12-15), Superfecta (Race 13) and Hi-5 (Race 15). Below is Pick 4 analysis which covers all three USTA Strategic Wagering-backed bets.
Race 12: $25K Jon Schuster Memorial
(4) BB LUCKY BOY was driven very aggressively and faded in the final yards last week. He picks up a Hall of Fame driver now and hopefully works out a more desirable trip. (1) GRANITE was impeded at the head of the stretch and then finished very well from an impossible spot. He could be a live longshot here with a better setup. (8) ROUND HERE BUZZ got a brief tuck after the quarter but spent most of the mile last Friday on the rim and eventually pressing the leader. It was a big mile and one he can build on. (5) ULTRA IMAGE had a great setup last week as the leader broke and he was on cover. I don’t love him here but do respect his connections.

Race 13: $310,000 Dan Patch
People have a short memory and maybe they’ll forget how good (1) ABUCKABETT HANOVER was in June and heading into July. Only a bad driving decision cost him in the Haughton when he was favored and now he picks up one of the hottest drivers in the sport in Zeron. He can rebound at a reasonable price. (6) LINEDRIVE HANOVER was HUGE last time when he set sizzling fractions and simply lost to the pocket-sitter. He’s unlikely to cut it here in this more talented field and could be the one closing fast up the passing lane. (11) PONDA WARRIOR won his 4-year-old debut last week here in 1:48 4/5! If he builds off that mile things could get interesting. (10) CHARLIE MAY is certainly the one to beat off back to back wins but the value is probably gone. (4) LOU’S PEARLMAN was absolutely flying home in the McKee. He’s interesting at the right price.
Race 14: $22,500 George Wilkes
(4) HENRY THE HORSE has multiple winning miles this year in the 1:50 range while most of these have never broken the 1:51 barrier. He should be kept close enough to the action and the only fear would be a bad trip that pushes him too hard since his sprint speed doesn’t seem as good as some others. (7) SHADY LANE LUCK has the early speed to be the last to the front and he’s the lone 4-year-old facing a field of sophomores; Brett Miller drives. (1) J B GRAM broke in his first start with Lasix but still finished fast late. He’s worth a follow-up look with hopes of a cleaner journey.
Race 15: $16K Marion Savage
(6) KERRIN JOSEPH A started behind the #5 last week from the second tier and that turned out to be a poor decision that resulted in racing three-wide on the first turn and uncovered the rest of the mile. He turned in a huge performance to be second. (10) ROCK KING DEO and (8) KJ OWEN finished one-two in by far the faster division of this series last weekend. (9) JIM STRIKESITRICH spent half of the stretch looking for racing room and was absolutely loaded in deep stretch. Driver change here to Scott Zeron is notable.
