Yo Beth D overcame broken equipment to post the fastest mile in three Indiana Sires Stakes flights for 2-year-old filly trotters on Tuesday night at Harrah's Hoosier Park. Racing in the last $46,000 division, Yo Beth D suffered the "wardrobe malfunction" right at the start, but despite the piece of loose equipment flapping in front of her, she got away cleanly in second for owner/trainer/driver Verlin Yoder and then moved to the top after the 28 3/5 opening quarter. Yo Beth D opened up a gap on the others through middle-half fractions of 57 3/5 and 1:26 4/5 and trotted home in 29 seconds to defeat Five Star Photo (Trace Tetrick) by 3 3/4 lengths in 1:55 4/5. Jasmine (James Yoder) was third. A filly from the first crop of Helpisontheway, Yo Beth D was bred by John Schmucker and was sold for $14,000 at the 2021 Blooded Horse Sale. She has a record of 2-1-0 from three starts, has earned $33,000, and paid $3.80 to win as the 4-5 favorite. Driver John De Long captured the other two splits. In the first $45,500 tilt, he had Myrll Vally positioned in third and fourth through fractions of 28 3/5, 59 2/5, and 1:28 3/5, and Myrll Vally rallied with a 28 second last quarter to catch and overtake leader Swanderful Pearls (Doug Rideout) for a one length win in 1:57 3/5. Flirtinwiththehelp (Trevor Smith) grabbed third. Darryl Lyons trains Myrll Valley, a daughter of Swan For All bred by Steven Mast, for owners Aaron Miller, Luke Miller, Douglas Lyons, and Delvin D. Miller. She broke her maiden in her second chance, pushed her bankroll to $25,250, and returned $31.20 to win as a 14-1 offering. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Helpineedsomebody and De Long took command beyond the 30 second opening quarter in the middle $46,000 grouping, and after backing down the tempo to 1:00 2/5 at the half and 1:29 4/5 at the three-quarters, she sprinted a 28 3/5 kicker to hold off a gaining Meadowbrook Rose (Smith) by a length in 1:58 2/5. Yo Cheyenne (Verlin Yoder) finished third. Another Helpisontheway filly, Helpineedsomebody is trained by Ernie Gaskin, who also co-owns her with Robert Rubin. Helpineedsomebody, bred by Black Creek Farm and Hickory Hollow Stables, was a $19,000 purchase at the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale, and she has a win, a second, and a third in three outings. She has now put away $26,700 and paid $6.20 as the 2-1 second choice.
