Harrah's Hoosier Park: Favorites clean up in Friday's Grade 3 stakes

Several Grade 3 events, plus the Carl Becker Memorial for Indiana-sired 3-year-old pacing fillies, were among the stakes events held at Harrah's Hoosier Park on Friday.

$70,000 Madison County 2YO C&G Trot

The Reason (Yannick Gingras) rallied off dull cover from second-over to win by a length and a half in 1:55 1/5 at odds of 1-5. Lions Tale (Mattias Melander) followed The Reason all the way and checked in second, followed by Heir Tothe Naughty (Trace Tetrick).

A Father Patrick colt bred by Coyote Wynd Farms, The Reason is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Phil Collura and Libby And Purnel. He has two wins and a trio of second-place finishes from nine starts, has banked $86,908 and paid $2.60 to win.

$75,000 Phil Langley Memorial 3YO C&G Trot

Zephyr Kemp (Todd McCarthy) wheeled out of third in the lane off fractions of 26 4/5, 55 4/5 and 1:24 3/5, rallied by pace-setter Mr Big Spender (Mike Wilder) and went on to a two length victory in 1:52. Mr Big Spender wound up second and Bravo Alpha (Trace Tetrick) came in third.

The victorious colt is by Calgary Games and was sent out by Marcus Melander for co-owners/breeders Kemppi Stables Oy Inc. and Suojalampi Stable Inc., plus co-owners Pcw Racing LLC. and Sjoeblom Racing Inc. He has a summary of 8-1-2 from 22 appearances, has pocketed $318,050 and returned $2.80 to win as the 2-5 choice.

$100,000 Jenna's Beach Boy 3YO C&G Pace

After siting fourth at the 26 1/5 quarter, driver Scott Zeron sent 2-5 favorite Sweet Lovin Lou to the outside in the backstretch and cleared Dancingdreamer (Dexter Dunn) for the top spot beyond the 54 1/5 half. From there, Sweet Lovin Lou went on to hit three-quarters in 1:22 before he sprinted home in 26 3/5 to score by two lengths in 1:48 3/5. Early leader Prolific Blend (Austin Hanners) got up for second at 38-1, while Dancingdreamer finished third.

$75,000 Carl Becker Memorial Indiana-sired 3YO Fillies Pace

Somemore Blue (Marcus Miller) stalked Whoomp (John De Long) from the two-hole to the 26 2/5 quarter, 55 1/5 half and 1:23 4/5 three-quarters, then vaulted past the pace-setter in the stretch to prevail by a length and three-quarters in 1:50. Whoomp was next, followed by It's My Story (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.).

$75,000 Elevation 2YO C&G Pace

Marcus and Erv Miller came right back to take this race with Mr Bear in 1:50 3/5. Mr Bear showed speed from post four, took the lead passing the 27 second opening quarter and never looked back from there, defeating pocket-sitter Stonebridge Blitz (Gingras) by 3 3/4 lengths. Another Mile Again (Trace Tetrick) got up for third.
