?q=100)
Closing quickly down the stretch, Dan D Man Can, driven by Atlee Bender for trainer Erv Miller, continued his hot streak by winning the lone $97,000 division of the third Indiana Sire Stakes leg for 3-year-old male trotters at Harrah's Hoosier Park on Thursday (June 25). With the victory, Dan D Man Can remained perfect on the year.
Coming out of the gate from post four, Dan D Man Can faced a familiar battle with August Salazar (John De Long) before transitioning to the rail, forcing August Salazar to claim the lead the long way at the first quarter in 26 4/5. Getting in on the action, the post-time favorite San Patricio (Trace Tetrick) moved up the ranks to snag the lead from August Salazar before hitting the halfway mark in 56 2/5.
San Patricio looked to stretch his lead, dragging August Salazar with him as Dan D Man Can continued to pursue from third. Maintaining the advantage, San Patricio led the field to the three-quarters in 1:25, followed by August Salazar, Dan D Man Can and Swan Affect (Marcus Miller). After waiting to pounce, Dan D Man Can took the chance to strike immediately upon hitting the stretch.
Dan D Man Can moved off from the pylons and swung three-deep as August Salazar tipped from the pocket. San Patricio's lead started to dwindle as the challengers gained on the favorite. Dan D Man Can kept his foot on the accelerator, blitzing along the outside in 27 1/5. First trotting by San Patricio, Dan D Man Can then strode past August Salazar to hit the wire in 1:53 1/5. Swan Affect rallied for second, while August Salazar settled for third.
