Harrah's Hoosier Park: Chase H Hanover, Jujubee collect Grand Circuit trophies
Chase H Hanover picked up his biggest win to date, while Jujubee remained scorching hot in the $130,000 Jenna's Beach Boy and $100,000 Phil Langley Memorial for 3-year-old colts and geldings on both gaits on Friday night at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
Driven by David Miller in the Jenna's Beach Boy for pacers, Chase H Hanover showed strong early speed from post four and then gave way to sit in the two-hole behind One Eight Hundred (Dexter Dunn) coming to the 26 2/5 opening quarter. One Eight Hundred was able to keep the top spot through a 55 second half, a 1:22 three-quarters, and into the lane, but Chase H Hanover came through in the passing lane to take the lead. From there, Chase H Hanover held sway to the wire, beating Emblaze Hanover (Yannick Gingras), who followed on the cones in the three-hole, by a length in a life's-best 1:49 2/5. Virgo (Trace Tetrick) was the third-place finisher.
Trainer Scott Cox also co-owns Chase H Hanover, a Captaintreacherous gelding bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, with partner Jason Ash. Chase H Hanover now has seven wins from 25 career starts, has pocketed $516,250, and returned $6.60 to win as the 2-1 favorite.

In the Phil Langley Memorial, In Range (Tim Tetrick) hustled to the point from post eight and rang up a 26 4/5 opening quarter, but Jujubee (Andrew McCarthy) brushed from fourth to first approaching the 55 4/5 half. From there, Jujubee hit three-quarters in 1:24, and then he kicked away from his competition through the stretch, winning by 3 1/4 lengths over In Range in a 1:52 1/5 mile. Take All Comers (Brian Sears) got third.
Jujubee, a Creatine colt trained by Greg Wright Jr. for owner/breeder Jon Erdner, has a summary of 14-4-1 from 20 lifetime tries, and he pushed his earnings to $350,107. He was the 1-5 favorite and paid $2.60 to win.
