Harrah's Hoosier Park: Career-best clockings for Indiana Sires Stakes conquerors

Two-year-old pacing fillies took to the track on Wednesday (Aug. 28) at Harrah's Hoosier Park with a pair of $67,500 Indiana Sires Stakes divisions for their fourth leg. The streaking Brookview Fancy won her fourth straight, while JK Pearl Stone rallied late to score in their respective splits, each in a lifetime-best time.

Brookview Fancy was sent away from post five as the 9-5 second-choice on the toteboard with pilot Joey Putnam aboard. Putnam pointed Brookview Fancy to the lead right off the gate, powering clear after an early tussle with Kaks The Boss (driven by Kyle Wilfong) through a hot opening quarter of 26 seconds. Putnam stayed on the throttle up the backstretch with Brookview Fancy, guiding the field of seven to the halfway point in 54 4/5. Brookview Fancy began to separate herself from the field on the final turn, opening up to a 2 1/2 length lead at three-quarters in 1:23 3/5.

After turning for home, the lead would only continue to grow for Brookview Fancy, as she opened up by four lengths midway through the stretch with Winderkindbluechip (Jordan Ross) now in pursuit in second at big odds. Putnam geared down Brookview Fancy late, coasting to the wire a length clear in 1:51 2/5. Tashish (Brandon Bates) rallied up the passing lane to finish second at 35-1, while Wunderkindbluechip rounded out the trifecta at 32-1.

Aaron Stutzman trains Brookview Fancy, who has won four of five to begin her young career, for owner James Miller. Bred by Brookview Farms, the daughter of JK Endofanera-Get Your Armor was a $13,000 yearling purchase at the 2023 Hoosier Classic and has now banked $108,750 following the win.

Daughters of JK Endofanera swept the stakes action on the evening following JK Pearl Stone's deep stretch rally to secure the second showdown with driver Pete Wrenn. Saddled with post six in the field of seven, Wrenn got JK Pearl Stone away in good order, landing in the pocket behind CC Rockin Rosie (Jordan Ross), who laid down the first quarter of 27 seconds. CC Rockin Rosie went unchallenged to the half in 55 3/5 before Trace Tetrick moved Heart Song from fourth to start the outer flow. Heart Song surged alongside CC Rockin Rosie on the turn, putting her nose in front at three-quarters in 1:25 2/5 while JK Pearl Stone waited for racing room in third.

It looked as though racing room may come too late to JK Pearl Stone as Heart Song skipped away to a four length lead up top before Wrenn could angle JK Pearl Stone to the passing lane. Once in the clear, JK Pearl Stone rocketed home in 27 1/5 to chase down Heart Song, motoring clear by a length on the wire in 1:52 4/5. 4-5 favorite Loveyoucookie (Ricky Macomber Jr.) finished third, five lengths back of the top two.

Melanie Wrenn trains JK Pearl Stone, who was won three of five this season, for owners Let It Ride Stables and J L Benson Stables. The daughter of JK Endofanera-Whetstone Hanover was bred by Midland Acres and now sports a bankroll of $64,840.

Thursday (Aug. 29) night at Harrah's Hoosier Park, action continues with a 14-race card set to get underway at 6:15 p.m. A field of seven will compete for $94,500 in the penultimate leg of Indiana Sires Stakes for 3-year-old pacing fillies, which will serve as the eighth race on the card and is headlined by 2-5 morning line favorite Lets Go Endofaera, who looks for her sixth win in seven starts this season for Team De Long.

Bettors will have large pools to take aim at throughout the Thursday night card. The festivities will get underway with a $50,000 guarantee in the early Pick 5 (races 1-5) with a double carryover of $16,825.86. Additionally, both the late Pick 4 (races 11-14) and Hoosier High 5 (race 14) will offer guaranteed pools of $10,000.
