Harrah's Hoosier: Dominant duo in Indiana Sires Stakes

Greg Reinhart|Jul 30, 2021

Ponda Adventure and Dover In Motion absolutely romped to victories in their respective Indiana Sires Stakes events for 2-year-old male trotters on Friday evening at Harrah's Hoosier Park.

Driven by Trace Tetrick in the first $66,500 section, Ponda Adventure was positioned third at the 28 second opening quarter, but he would move up two-wide and wrestle command away from Yo Mister (James Yoder) just before the 58 2/5 half. Ponda Adventure then gained separation from the field on the way to the 1:27 4/5 three-quarters before pouring on the steam in a 27 2/5 final kicker, widening his margin to nine lengths at the wire. Yo Mister was the runner-up in the 1:55 1/5 mile, and Dj Dan (Mike Oosting) checked in third.

Bred by Pond-A-Acres, Ponda Adventure is a Swan For All-Wildflower (Muscle Hill) gelding trained by Erv Miller for owners Engel Stable Of IL, Lou Willinger, and Jerry Graham. Ponda Adventure has won all three of his appearances, has now pocketed $61,250, and returned $4.60 to win as the 6-5 second choice.

In the other $70,490 flight, Muscle Dan (John De Long) hit the opening quarter in 28 1/5, but he would be passed by a two-wide Starlit Rambo (Lewayne Miller) past that post. Going to the 57 2/5 half, driver Ricky Macomber Jr. sent Dover In Motion first-up from third, and he was able to clear Starlit Rambo on the final bend. After he took the top spot, Dover In Motion clicked off three-quarters in 1:26 2/5, then pulled away with ease in a 27 4/5 final kicker, as Macomber Jr. sat motionless, to complete the 1:54 1/5 tally. Kaboomski (Joey Putnam) got up for second, but was 8 1/4 lengths behind the winner, and Starlit Rambo held third.

A gelding from the first crop of Dover Dan, Dover In Motion is trained by Jamie Macomber for owners M & M Racing and Norbert Maza. Dover In Motion, who is out of the Yankee Glide mare Keystone Sadie, was bred by Lyle Schlabach, has a two-for-two record, and now shows earnings of $58,245. Dover In Motion paid $2.60 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
