Harrah's Hoosier: Callmesue, Fleurie triumph in Indiana Sires Stakes
Rookie trotting fillies met in a pair of Indiana Sires Stakes splits on Saturday night at Harrah's Hoosier Park, and favorites Callmesue and Fleurie collected the wins.
The first group went for a purse of $65,500, and Flipflopsncroptops (Trace Tetrick) led through panels of 27 4/5, 58 1/5, and 1:28 with Callmesue (James Yoder) sitting in the pocket. In mid-stretch, Simply Right (Elliott Deaton), who had come first-over from third on the last turn and advanced into second turning for home, forged her way by Flipflopsncroptops to take a narrow advantage, but Yoder guided Callmesue into the passing lane when it became available, and Callmesue was able to out-kick Simply Right to win by a head in 1:57 3/5. My Sweet Mi Mi (Robert Taylor) closed well to finish third.
Yoder also trains Callmesue, a daughter of Dover Dan-Lisas Mission, and co-owns her with his wife, Cheyenne. The Richard Frey-bred filly has won four times in five starts, and she has now earned $54,750. She was the 3-5 favorite and paid $3.20 to win.

In the other $66,000 flight, first R Desireable Lady (Tetrick) and then Miss Spicy (Mike Oosting) posted fractions of 28 2/5, 58 4/5, and 1:29 4/5, but Fleurie (Peter Wrenn), who bided her time in third before pulling the trigger first-over on the final bend, surged into the lead in the stretch. From there, she had to fend off a game R Desireable Lady, which she was able to do, hitting the wire a length to the good in a 1:57 4/5 mile. Sunafterthestorm rallied from fifth to third in the last quarter.
Fleurie, a filly by Muscle Massive and out of the Striking Sahbra mare Renees Pockets, is trained by Melanie Wrenn for owner/breeder M T Pockets Stables. Fleurie improved her record to three-for-three, has banked $60,750, and returned $4.00 to win as the even-money choice.
