Harrah's Hoosier: Brookview Bolt strikes again in Indiana Sires Stakes

Two $48,000 Indiana Sires Stakes divisions for 3-year-old male trotters headlined Thursday night's card at Harrah's Hoosier Park. Brookview Bolt won for the third straight time in the program in the first split, while Predator And Prey tallied his first success in the event in the other flight.
After leaving from the outside post six, Brookview Bolt (Sam Widger) pressed on two-wide to take command away from Swingforthefences (Peter Wrenn) beyond the 28 1/5 opening quarter went on the board. From there, Brookview Bolt reached the half in 56 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:26 1/5, then came home in 27 2/5 to hold off a rallying Monarch (James Yoder) by a length and a half in 1:53 3/5. Illini Earl (Brandon Bates) got third.

Breckenridge (Dan Shetler) rang up fractions of 27 /5, 58 2/5, and 1:28 in the second section, but Predator And Prey (Jared Finn) began a first-over move out of fifth approaching the half that carried him into second before three-quarters. Through the stretch Breckenridge dug in determinedly, but Predator And Prey was unrelenting to his outside and got up late to tally by a neck in 1:55 1/5. Breckenridge dead-heated for second with pocket-sitter Bluebird Maverick (Dale Hiteman), who closed well up the passing lane.
Predator And Prey, a gelding by Guccio, is trained by John Finn for owner Finn Racing LLC. Predator And Prey, who was bred by Merle Yoder, has compiled a record of 5-4-5 from 20 trips behind the gate, and he has banked $95,580. He was the 3-1 third choice and returned $8.80 to win.
