Harness: Unica Donna leads Lexington Selected Mixed Sale
HIP 939 Unica Donna, a 9-year-old Italian-bred Donato Hanover mare, was purchased by Cindy Stewart of Hunterton Farm for $250,000 to head Saturday night's Lexington Selected Mixed Sale.
Selling as part of the complete dispersal of Buckstone Land & Livestock and consigned by Preferred Equine Inc. as agent, Unica Donna is the dam of this year's Jim Doherty Memorial elimination winner Una Madonna and is also a half-sister to international star and multi-time stakes winner Daguet Rapide. Unica Donna was last bred to Calgary Games, 2021's Horse of the Year in Sweden.
One other broodmare - HIP 924 Avalonia - made it into six figures at $110,000 and was also purchased by Stewart from Preferred Equine from the Buckstone Land & Livestock dispersal. Avalonia was last bred to Tactical Landing and is a half-sister to former New York Sire Stakes champion Lucky Ava ($391,177).
A total of 77 lots were offered and fetched a gross of $2,721,000 and an average of $35,338.
