Harness: Trotters top fourth night of Lexington Selected Yearling Sale
Trotters remained in high demand during Friday night's session at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, with the top-five sellers, all of whom cracked six figures, being of the squared-gaited set.
HIP 512 Captain Corey and HIP 638 Stonebridge Danish topped the night at $150,000. Captain Corey, the lone horse in the sale by the exported sire Googoo Gaagaa, went to agent Robert Lindstrom for S R F Stable (Lennart Agren). Captain Corey, consigned by Peninsula Farm, Inc., is out of Luv U All, an Angus Hall half-sister to Deadliest Catch (Chocolatier, $184,175). Stonebridge Danish, consigned by Spring Haven Farm as agent, was taken by Brixton Medical AB (Bengt Ågerup). Stonebridge Danish, a Conway Hall-Cream Puff colt, is a full brother to 2008 Hambletonian Oaks champion Creamy Mimi ($927,169).
Right behind Captain Corey and Stonebridge Danish was HIP 578 Southwind Tyrion, who was acquired by Ake Svanstedt for $145,000. Selling from the Preferred Equine Marketing, Inc. (agent) consignment, Southwind Tyrion is out of the Cantab Hall mare Taylor Jean. She's a half-sister to the likes of Anderberg (Andover Hall, $187,437).
Chapter Seven fillies sold by Crawford Farms completed the top five, with HIP 567 Lovey Belle going to agent Tony Alagna for $110,000, and HIP 659 Destined To Dance to John Butenschoen for $100,000. Lovey Belle is out of Somebody To Love (Angus Hall, $618,686), and Destined To Dance's dam is Go Go Dancer, making her a half-sister to Heels On Wheels (Conway Hall, $180,811).
The fourth session of the sale finished up 17.2 percent on average year-over-year, and this is now the highest-grossing edition of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, with the final session still ahead on Saturday. The sale will conclude tomorrow beginning at 7 P.M., and HIPS 665-796 will be offered.
