Harness: Swan For All yearlings top Hoosier Classic Sale
The 2019 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale finished on Saturday, with two horses by Swan For All fetching $175,000 to top the session and the overall sale.
HIP 251 Bluebird Spirit was the first offspring of Swan For All to bring $175,000 as he purchased by William De Long. A colt, Bluebird Spirit, consigned by Bluebird Meadows, is the first foal out of Goosebump Hanover (RC Royalty, 1:55 2/5, $256,520). Goosebump Hanover is a half-sister to the exported 2017 Hambletonian champion Perfect Spirit (Andover Hall, 1:51 2/5, $653,919).
HIP 278 Meadowbrook Jane, a Swan For All filly, then went to owner Tom Pollack for $175,000. Consigned by Meadowbrook Farm, Meadowbrook Jane is out of J As Ayd, making her a full sister to Indiana Sires Stakes champion TJs Top Pick (1:53 3/5, $302,871).
172 horses sold on Saturday, bringing a gross of $2,861,000 and an average of $16,634. Both of these numbers were down from last year's second session when 170 yearlings were hammered down for an average of $18,529 and a total of $3,150,000.
In total 358 horses went through the ring, selling for a gross of $6,454,000 and an average of $18,028. These were also declines from 2018 as last year 354 horses sold for an average of $19,449 and a sum of $6,885,000.
