Harness: Solid gains at Goshen Yearling Sale
The 2017 edition of the Goshen Yearling Sale was held on Sunday afternoon at the Mark Ford Training Center in Middletown, New York, and the average was up 17.8% over last year's sale.
The top-seller on the day was HIP 18 Zekefromcabincreek, a So Surreal colt who went to Ken Jacobs for $50,000. Zekefromcabincreek, who was bred by Steve Jones and was consigned by Cameo Hills Farm, is out of the The Panderosa mare Love The Game ($233,909), making him a brother to three six-figure earners, topped by Beautiful Lady (Rocknroll Hanover, $296,765).
HIP 9 L Dees Trump, an Explosive Matter colt, led the way for trotters, fetching $44,000 from Tracy Brainard. Bred by Carlo Lattinelli and Dumain Haven Farm and consigned by Cameo Hills Farm, L Dees Trump is out of the Donato Hanover mare L Dees Cashmere, a half-sister to LDees Creditreport (Credit Winner, $208,157) and a three-quarter sister to Plan B In HD (Andover Hall, $200,364).
Another notable yearling to go through the ring was HIP 35 Captain Miraculous. The first offspring of Captaintreacherous offered at public auction, he was sold to Anthony MacDonald's thestable.ca for $35,000. Also bred by Steve Jones and consigned by Cameo Hills Farm, Captain Miraculous is out of Please Me Please (Camluck, $756,328), which makes him a half-brother to five six-figure earners, including Rockin Finish (Rocknroll Hanover, $545,993).
110 yearlings were sold during the session, so while the number sold dropped from last year (153), the average increased from $12,158 in 2016 to $14,323 in 2017.
