Harness: Sharp Horses and Track Trends from May 19 - May 21

Bob Pandolfo|May 26, 2017

HAWTHORNE

5/21: 3w, no bias

5/20: 6w, no bias

5/19: 1w, + closers

LYONS JIMMYDEAN –

Was 7 lengths behind at the quarter, rushed up before the half, met the 2/5 favorite at the half, kept the heat on that one and held gamely for the show while losing by only a length

NORTHFIELD

5/22: 9w, no bias, although speed did well, five horses rallied off cover to win from off the pace, so it wasn’t a severe bias

5/20: 6w, no bias

HOOSIER

5/20: 4w, no bias

5/19: 4w, no bias

MISCHIEF MAKER N –

Left from post 9, was used hard to the lead past a :26 3/5 first quarter, yielded, chased a quick pace, held okay

HOT ART –

Had post 6, was shuffled to 10th, followed weak cover and finished sharply pacing home with a :26 4/5 last quarter while making up ten lengths in the final three quarters

HARRINGTON

5/22: 3w, no bias, sloppy track

MENTIRA –

Had post 8, followed the winner’s cover, made up good ground through the middle-half, lost cover down the backstretch and finished evenly to the wire for the show

ARQUE HANOVER –

Left from post 8, followed the winner, lost his cover past the quarter, remained parked the mile, pressed the pace, held gamely to be second best

ROSECROFT

5/20: 3w, + closers

CAPTIVE AUDIENCE –

Let from post 7 and was used hard to the lead in :26, set the pace over a tiring track and held well to be second best behind the even money pocket winner

ANDY’S LIL BUDDY –

Left from post 6, was looped leaving and used hard parked to the half, tucked third, held okay; price factor in exotics

THE MEADOWS

5/22: 2w, no bias

5/20: 5w, no bias

IWILLNOTBEMACHED –

Was 7th at the half, followed weak cover, rallied three wide on the final turn and finished gamely to just miss from a tough spot

NO TIME FOR LUZ’N –

Filly left from post 9, was three wide part of the first turn, broke late on the turn while approaching the leader, was taken five or six wide and dropped back at least 10 lengths, recovered and tucked in 7th at the half, swung out down the backstretch, launched a long three wide move that continued around the final turn, was five lengths behind at the top of the stretch, stacked four wide, finished with a rush to win going away by two lengths

PHILADELPHIA

5/22:

5/21: 9w, ++ speed

RICIMER A –

Left from post 7, tucked 4th, went first over pushing a :26 4/5 third quarter, held okay

POCONO DOWNS

5/22: 10w, + speed

5/21: 3w, no bias

5/20: 7w, + speed

WHO DO YOU LIKE –

Left from post 8, was used hard to the lead in :26 3/5, set a quick pace under pressure and didn’t tire that badly

PANDAMAN SEA –

Had post 6, left sharply to the lead in :26 4/5, was shuffled in tight quarters to sixth, found room late and had pace finishing

NORTHWEST YANKEE –

Had post 7, moved before the quarter, followed the winner, lost his cover past the quarter, remained parked first over on a long grind and held gamely for the show

MEADOWLANDS

5/20: 0w, + closers

5/19: 7w, no bias, although it appeared to favor front runners, with seven winning favorites, it was more likely the drivers putting the best horse on the lead

SHE’S WATCHING –

Well bred filly looked good in her 3yo return to stay undefeated in three starts, left from post 9 and tucked 6th on the first turn, followed cover second over, swung three wide late on the final turn and drew clear under wraps with a last quarter of :26 2/5

QUICK ASA TRICK N –

Left from post 10 and was four wide part of the first turn and wide most of the first quarter, took the lead past the :27 2/5 quarter, yielded at the half, swung out in midstretch and finished gamely to just miss

BABY KITTY –

Left well and parked a horse to the lead in :27 2/5, yielded, pulled the pocket and brushed back to the lead at the half, took on pressure, excusably weakened in the final sixteenth

CHRISTEN ME N –

Was third over from post 8, drafted behind cover until midstretch, tipped wide and finished quickly, paced his last half in :52 3/5

MONTICELLO

5/22: 7w, + speed

TIOGA

5/21: 6w, + speed

5/20: 2w, no bias

5/19: 3w, no bias

5/20: 6w, no bias

5/19: 3w, no bias

MOSSDALE CONNER N –

Left from post 8 and tucked 5th, followed cover and finished full of pace to win going away while pacing his last half in :53 4/5
