Harness: Sharp Horses and Track Trends from Mar. 3 - Mar. 6

Bob Pandolfo|Mar 10, 2017

CAL EXPO

3/4: 7w, + speed, sloppy track

3/3: 1w, ++ closers

NORTHFIELD

3/7: 8w, + speed, off track, nowhere near as speed favoring as Saturday night

3/4: 14w, +++ speed

OLIVIA V*** –

Was parked outside a long way from post 8, grinded uncovered into contention, finished gamely for the place in another big effort

AUDREY ANNA –

Had post 7, was 9th early, followed cover fourth over, rallied three wide on the final turn and finished quickly against the bias from a tough spot

LADY IDEAL*** –

Left from post 7 and was used hard forcing the pace, finally ducked into the pocket off the third turn, finished gamely for the place in a big effort

MIAMI VALLEY

3/5: 5w, no bias, this track, which has a long stretch and no passing lane, generally plays fairer compared to some five-eighths tracks, but leavers do have an advantage, so it is speed favoring, but just not as speed favoring as some other five eighth tracks
3/4: 10w, ++ speed

3/3: 6w, no bias or perhaps slightly speed bias

TERRORIZING Y’ALL –

Had post 10, was 10th at the half, followed weak cover, followed cover three wide approaching the three quarters making up ground quickly while pacing a :27 4/5 third quarter, sustained his rally gamely to the wire to finish third from a tough spot

MANTALIC –

Left from post 8 and tucked 4th pacing a :27 4/5 first quarter, went first over at the half, paced a :28 third quarter prompting the pace, was shaken off but held okay

SUNDAY POKER–

8 year old was on this list last week, left from post 7, was parked to the lead past a :27 opener, shook off a rival at the half, drew off impressively at 4-1 odds

ABNER THE GREAT*** –

Was 9th at the quarter 13 lengths behind, followed poor cover, gained good ground, went three wide through the final quarter and finished gamely from a tough spot

FRANZO –

Sharp 5yo gelding shot to the lead in :26, set a pressured pace and drew off in :26 3/5

SOUTHWIND AMAZON –

Left from post 9 and got into a speed duel with Franzo, forced a quick pace and held well until the three quarters, then excusably tired

TURBO MACH*** –

Left slowly from post 9, advanced steadily then brushed strongly to take the lead at the 5/8’s, drew clear around the turn and gave way grudgingly late in a big effort

PERRITO CALIENTE –

Game grinder was claimed again, had post 6, moved at the quarter, got blindswitched badly through most of the final quarter, cleared late with pace

ROCK OUT –

Left from post 7, was parked to the lead in :27 1/5, rated the half, paced a solid final half and gave way grudgingly to the pocket winner late

INVEST IN ART –

Was 10th at the half, followed weak cover, raced three and four wide through the final quarter and finished gamely for the show from a tough spot

ALWYSBREAKINHEARTS –

ROSECROFT

3/5: 5w, no bias

OWEN HANOVER –

Left from post 8 and was used hard to the lead in :27 1/5, set the pace under strong second-half pressure from the winner and held gamely to be clearly second best

DOVER DOWNS

3/7: 7w, + speed

SKYWAY GLADIATOR –

Had post 8, blasted to the lead in :26 4/5, yielded, chased a lively pace, weakened but held okay and has dangerous speed, especially if he draws into a better post

MISS PROFITABILITY –

Left from post 6, tucked third, went first over, pushed the 4-5 winner and held well

Left and was used hard to the lead in :26 1/5, yielded, chased the sharp drop down winner and held okay

THE MEADOWS

3/7: 3w, no bias

3/4: 2w, no bias

DAPPER DUDE –

Kept up well early then brushed to the lead at the half, took on strong pressure from the winner, was no match for that one in the stretch but held gamely to be second best

SHOOTER’S DREAM –

Left well from post 8 directly outside of the post 7 leaver, was used hard to the lead in :27 1/5, set the pace and gave way grudgingly to the pocket horse late

FREEHOLD

3/4: 3w, + closers, windy day, seemed to help the closers, several longshots rallied to win from off the pace including three boxcar longshots that paid $44, $104, and $204

3/3: 4w, no bias

KID PK –

3/4: 4w, + speed, windy night

3/3: 5w, + speed, windy night

ANOTHER DAILY COPY –

SQUARE DANCER –

Left from post 5 and was used hard three wide to the lead in :27 1/5, set the pace, was caught late but his :28 2/5 last quarter was solid and he was a clear second
