Bob Pandolfo|Mar 31, 2017

CAL EXPO

3/25: 3w, + closers

3/24: 5w, no bias

MANHATTAN BENNY*** –

Left from post 7, was used hard to the lead in :27 2/5, was under pressure to the half, shook that rival off and opened up a two length lead through a :28 1/5 third quarter while racing against the bias, gave way grudgingly to the 4/5 favorite late

NORTHFIELD

3/27: 13w, +++ speed, extremely speed favoring; 7 of the wire to wire winners were not the favorite, a sign that the bias was for real

3/25: 5w, no bias

APACH OF LUCK –

Left from post 8, was parked the mile uncovered in a speed duel, finally wore down the leader in the stretch but was out-kicked by the favorite late in a game placing

GLORY BEACH –

Followed weak cover, gunned three wide at the three quarters, finished evenly against the bias while chasing the tough 2/5 favorite

MIAMI VALLEY

3/27: 3w, no bias, this 5/8’s track with the long stretch is one of the least speed biased 5/8’s track in the country; for some reason, the outside flow seems to keep up better… favorites are winning at 33% this year, well below industry average…there is, however, a post position bias, posts 7, 8, 9 win at fewer than 7%, lower than most five eighth tracks

3/26: 6w, no bias

3/25: 6w, no bias

3/24: 5w, no bias

LUV STRUCK –

Left and was used hard parked the mile without cover, prompted the pace, held well

SOUTHWIND LEA –

Left and tucked pacing a :27 2/5 first quarter, went first over into a :27 4/5 third quarter against a sharp front runner and held gamely for the place

NEWSPEAK –

Shipped in from Northfield, had post 6, left and tucked third, went first over, engaged the leader at the half, prompted the pace, held okay

THUNDER RIDGE –

Was 7th at the quarter, was first over a long way, finished gamely for the show

TORRINGTON –

Left from post 6, tucked third, went first over, prompted a :28 third quarter, took the lead in the stretch, was caught by the pocket horse in a game placing

WALKING TALL*** –

Left from post 7, was used hard to the lead in :26 4/5, yielded, was shuffled behind a tiring horse, cleared in the stretch and finished gamely for the show

GERRIES SPORT –

Had post 1, was 4th at the quarter but used energy maintaining position only 2 lengths behind the :26 4/5 first quarter split, pulled behind cover on turn one, lost cover and hustled up to challenge, secured the lead approaching the half after pacing a :27 1/5 third quarter, shook off pressure on the final turn and drew clear

SUNDAY POKER –

Left from post 4, was parked out forcing a :26 3/5 first quarter, tucked, pulled out of the pocket late on turn two and went up to challenged, battled for the lead, never cleared to the inside, took the lead in the stretch, weakened late but held well for the show

OUR LUCKY CHIP –

Blasted to the lead in :26 2/5, set a fast pace and held well for the show

J W RENEGADE –

Had post 8 and was 9th at the quarter, was 5th over at the half, stormed three wide approaching the three quarters, was wide on the final turn, made up good ground to enter contention from a tough spot and held okay to lose by only two lengths

Saved ground, was 5th turning into the stretch, flew home to just miss

DAPPER DUDE –

Left from post 8 and was used hard to the lead in :26 3/5, set a fast pace until yielding to strong pressure past the three quarters, faded but it was not an easy trip

ASTROFFICAL –

Had post 9, followed weak cover and finished gamely from a tough spot

RUFFLE UP*** –

Left from post 8, was used hard to the lead in :27 2/5, set a fast pace and held well for the show with a respectable :28 4/5 final quarter

POCONO DOWNS

3/26: 3w, no bias

3/25: 8w, + speed

SOMETHINGINTHEWIND –

Left from post 8, followed cover then lost that cover pat the quarter, got hung the mile, prompted the pace first over, put away the leader in the stretch, weakened but held okay

IN COMMANDO –

Made two moves to the lead, yielded to the sharp favorite and weakened but it was a pretty good effort that was better than it looks on paper; price factor in exotics

OUR JERRY LEE N –

Had post 7, was four wide leaving into the first turn then was taken back until a tuck third, was shuffled, swung out late final turn, tipped wide and finished gamely

THAT’S MY OPINION –

Rushed up to challenge the sharp 4/5 favorite at the half, pressed a :28 1/5 third quarter and kept on gamely to the wire to be a solid second

ROCKEN CAMNATION –

Left from post 7 and was used hard to the lead in :26 4/5, yielded and was shuffled to 4th, finished gamely late for the place

FREEHOLD

3/25: 10w, ++ speed, lone horse that didn’t win on the lead sat the pocket

3/24: 6w, + speed

INTOVIEW –

Was second over, rallied three wide on the final turn and finished gamely to get up for the win, the only horse in 21 races over two days to win that didn’t hug the pylons

MEADOWLANDS

3/25: 3w, no bias

3/24: 3w, no bias

WHO DO YOU LIKE –

Trotter left from post 8, was parked to the lead past a :27 3/5 first quarter, was sailing along on the lead when he saw something on the track in the final sixteenth and he jumped over it, quickly and athletically got back on stride, tough luck loss

PENPAL*** –

4yo mare came off a layoff, had post 7, grinded first over from a tough spot, advanced quickly on the final turn, surged to the lead turning for home and drew clear handily
