Harness: Retiring Shartin honored at Dover
Shartin N, Horse of the Year in 2019, closed out her career at Yonkers Raceway on November 28, 2020 with a second-place finish and she made her last trip to the track on Wednesday (1/6) at Dover Downs as fans got to say their goodbyes.
Shartin N, a 39-time winner in 55 North American starts, was officially retired at Dover as drivers, trainers and connections of the great pacing mare joined her in the winner's circle following the $22,000 Open Handicap. The Jim King Jr. trainee led the post parade for the race and as luck would have it her stablemate Soho Burning Love A, with Shartin's regular driver Tim Tetrick in the bike, stormed home to win the race by a head.
Shartin N retires with $2.47 million in North American earnings as the fastest pacing mare in history courtesy of her 1:46 4/5 victory in the Lady Liberty at The Meadowlands in 2019.
