Harness Racing: Sharp Horses and Track Trends for October 10-13
BALMORAL
10/13: 1w, + closers
10/12: 1w, + closers
JACK APPLE - Was 10th at the half, followed cover 4th over and finished fast for the place
JO JO SPUR - Saved ground and was 8th and nine lengths back at the top of the stretch, flew home to just miss
MAYWOOD
10/11: 7w, + speed
10/10: 2w, no bias
SILVER DEVIL - Was first over a long way, gained 7 lengths in the second quarter, wore down the leader in the lane and dug in gamely to hold off the pocketed 6-5 favorite
WESTERN COLE - Was parked most of the mile without cover from post 6 and held well
HARRINGTON
10/10: 3w, no bias, sloppy track
NORTHFIELD
10/11: 6w, + speed
PHILADELPHIA
10/13: 5w, no bias
10/11: 4w, no bias, off track
10/10: 4w, leavers did well but not a strong bias, sloppy track
POCONO
10/12: 4w, + speed, similar to Friday night, leavers did well, not an overwhelming bias but it is certainly a track that favors horses that can leave well and either cut the mile, sit the pocket, or race close up so they can pull first over at some point
10/11: 3w, mild speed bias, leavers did well but not a strong bias
U BETTOR WATCH OUT - Made two moves to the lead at the half through hot fractions and dug in gamely to win
COOLER SCHOONER - 2yo filly trotter left to an uncontested :27 1/5 lead as the second choice broke early, rated the pace on a big lead and trotted a solid :27 4/5 final quarter to win commandingly; horse for the course seems like a completely different animal over this surface
JOURNEYMAN - Kept up well early going :27 to the quarter then paced a :26 2/5 third quarter first over against a tough front runner
SHELLISCAPE - Left sluggishly from post 9, was unable to flush cover and ended up parked the mile without cover, pressed a :26 4/5 third quarter and just missed in a big effort
CAMILLE - Left and tucked, was blocked behind horses with pace in the stretch
ARTHUR BLUE CHIP - Left from post 8 and was parked the mile without cover, paced a :26 1/5 second quarter, kept the heat on until weakening on the final turn but held well considering
LUCK BE WITHYOU - Left well to the early lead, had to accelerate to meet the pressure of Arthur Blue Chip, put that one away on the final turn and drew off in a sharp performance
WARRAWEE NEEDY - Laid off since August 3, went first up against the tough Foiled Again and kept the heat on until weakening in the stretch in what could serve as a perfect setup tightener
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS*** - Left well and appeared ready to take control on turn one but Vegas Vacation forced the issue from the rail and Tetrick eased the Captain back into the pocket the first time in front of the stands, pulled out approaching the three quarters and went after Vegas Vacation, wore him down in the lane then held off the closers gamely under mild urging
BEE A MAGICIAN*** - Looked to leave but took back then brushed to the lead past the quarter and won in hand
EASY AGAIN - First over against classy Fred And Ginger into a :54 3/5 last half, held okay
THE MEADOWS
10/11: 4w, no bias, sloppy track
FREEHOLD
10/12: 10w, +++ speed, the inside was a conveyor belt today, 11 of 12 races won by the horse on the lead, the other race won by a horse that saved ground on the rail
10/11: 4w, no bias, sloppy track
10/10: 5w, no bias
NUTMEGS DESIRE - Left and was three wide to the quarter and unable to clear, kept pushing a fast pace in the slop and excusably tired
SARATOGA
10/13: 4w, no bias
10/12: 7w, + speed
10/11: 6w, + speed
MONTICELLO
10/10: 5w, no bias
YONKERS
10/12: 3w, no bias
10/11: 7w, + speed
10/10: 7w, + speed
LINDY MCDREAMY*** - Broke after the start and lost a ton of ground, caught the field, swung wide for the drive and was flying; made up at least 15 lengths here
CAMS VAN GO - Left from post 7, was parked to the quarter and tucked 5th, followed dull cover, moved wide mid-final turn and finished willingly
LIGHTNING PAIGE - Paced a :27 4/5 third quarter first over and held okay with a :28 last quarter
ARACACHE HANOVER - Left and was three deep the entire first quarter and used very hard to take the lead in :26, set a hot clip and excusably tired
