Harness Racing: Sharp Horses and Track Trends for Oct. 11, 2012

Bob Pandolfo|Oct 11, 2012

BALMORAL

10/10: 1w, + closers

ALWAYS A CHEATER*** – Was 10th, fifteen lengths behind early, rallied wide and finished fast to just miss

MONTICELLO

10/10: 4w, no bias

10/9: 4w, no bias

HARRINGTON

10/10: 9w, + speed

10/9: 5w, no bias

10/8: 7w, no bias

THREE SWINGS – Had post 7, moved up in a blindswitch down the back and finished gamely in an improved effort

ODDS ON RIESLING – Left well from post 7 to take the lead past the quarter, set the pace under heavy pressure but refused to give up in a win that misleadingly looks like a pocket trip on paper

RACE TRACK STORMY*** – Had post 6 and was third over behind poor cover, rallied wide down the back and around the final turn and held well

NORTHFIELD

10/9: 3w, no bias

10/8: 4w, no bias

MAN HE CAN SKOOT*** - Moved first over down the back and scooted off impressively to win in 1:52 3/5, very fast for a NW2 race

POCONO

10/10: 5w no bias

10/9: 3w, no bias

YOUNG AND FOOLISH – Had post 5 and paced a :27 first quarter after taking an early tuck, went first over into a :27 4/5 third quarter and only lost by 2 lengths

MEADOWS

10/10: 5w, no bias

10/9: 5w, no bias

HALL OF MEMORIES – Had post 8, tried to leave and was parked the opening quarter while taking back to last, finished in :26 4/5 with good stretch speed

REAL ATTITUDE*** – Left from post 8 and was parked the mile without cover forcing a fast pace, held well considering; watch for the switch to a catch driver

STAR PARTY*** – Had post 9, left and was used hard to clear in :26 1/5, set a pressured pace and tired but only lost by 3 lengths

SARATOGA

10/8: 4w, no bias

YONKERS

10/9: 5w, no bias

10/8: 6w, + speed, slight edge to speed

SIR HOWIE’S Z TAM – Left from post 8 and was parked to the lead in :27 2/5, yielded to strong pressure down the back through a :27 2/5 third quarter and held willingly for the show

SANSOME HANOVER – Followed weak cover 4th over and finished quickly in the stretch

*** = extra-sharp preferred plays
