Harness racing: Sharp Horses and Track Trends for June 25-27, 2012

Bob Pandolfo|Jul 02, 2012

BALMORAL

6/27: 0w, ++ closers

MONEY RUNNER – Was parked to a quick first quarter, set a fast pace on a closer’s track and held okay

APOLLONIA – Was 9th early and still 9th at the three quarters, finished fast for the place

MONTICELLO

6/27: 5w, no bias

6/26: 5w, no bias

6/25: 5w, no bias

SIXTH SENSE*** - Was parked the mile battling for the lead through fast fractions, got up gamely late

THE FILLY PRINCESS – Had the rail, set a fast pace under constant pressure, gave way grudgingly late

L FLAVIADI – Left and was parked out by the 4-5 favorite in a speed duel forcing a fast pace, didn’t tire that badly

VINNIE’S VALENTINE – Had post 7, was unable to flush cover and paced a strong middle-half on a long first over grind, weakened but could threaten from a better spot

NORTHFIELD PARK

6/26: 7w, + speed

6/25: 5w, no bias

SEA SLICKER*** – Was parked most of the mile, tried to brush three wide off cover on the second turn and got hung three wide a long way, engaged the leader at the three quarters and fought gallantly to the wire to lose by a length while finishing a game third

OSBORNE’S BIG RIG – Had post 7, picked up poor cover third over, surged wide down the back making up good ground into and around the final turn, weakened but held okay

HARRAH’S PHILADELHIA

6/27: 5w, + speed

TOGETHER AGAIN N – Left, tucked, went first over pacing a :26 4/5 third quarter, was shaken off by the winner but held well for the place

NORTHERN SMOKE OUT – Didn’t have much of a chance 7th at the half against the bias in a race without much pace, finished well in a quick last half

DAVE PANLONE – Had post 8, left, tucked, went first over into a quick last half and weakened; chance with a drop in class

MEADOWS

6/27: 3w, no bias

6/26: 6w, no bias

6/25: 7w, no bias

JUST A SUGGESTION – Was parked to the lead in :27 2/5, yielded and was shuffled with pace

POCONO

6/27: 5w, no bias

6/26: 3w, no bias

OIL MAGNET – Left from post 6 and was used hard to get the lead, yielded approaching the :54 2/5 half and didn’t tire that badly; chance at a price now

DROPPING STAR – Had poor cover and no shot wiile 8th at the half behind a slow pace set by a loose-on-lead favorite, rallied wide and finished gamely

SARATOGA

6/27: 6w, + speed

YONKERS

6/26: 7w, + speed

6/25: 4w, no real bias but leavers did very well

ACTIVATOR*** - Had post 8, slipped out 4th over down the back and finished strongly against the bias and in a race which had a slow pace

*** = extra-sharp preferred plays
