Harness Racing: Sharp Horses and Track Trends from January 20 - January 22
NORTHFIELD
1/22: 6w, no bias
1/21: 9w, + speed, cold night, 9 degrees at post time
1/20: 3w, no bias
AE WESTERN INGOT -
Left from post 5 and was parked to a quick half for the lead then raced under heavy pressure, yielded on the final turn and excusably weakened; price factor in exotics
JEBSWESTERNSHAKE*** -
Left from post 8 and was parked the mile without cover pressing a hot pace, held well until excusably giving way past the three quarters
I RIDE WESTERN -
Left and got into a speed duel through blazing fractions, only lost by 3 lengths
ROCKAWAY BLUE*** -
Had weak cover from post 6, charged wide and finished sharply for the place
WILDCATS TERROR -
7th early, was first over a long way gaining 9 lengths through the middle-half, was shaken off, tough trip
TALLERTHANWOODY -
Left from post 6 and was parked the mile without cover in a speed duel, held okay
GENUINE STAR N -
Was parked most of the mile without cover from post 6, held well considering
LITTLE BIT SIDEWAYS -
Left from post 6 and was used hard to clear in :28 2/5, set a lively clip and was 2nd best behind the sharp 6-5 winner
DOVER
1/20: 7w, + speed, leavers had the edge as usual but 5 winners did rally to win from off the pace, so not an intense bias
FIRE CAN FLY -
Got rough gaited at the start and was given a recorded break, saved ground, found clearance along the rail and finished fast in an improved effort
THE MEADOWS
1/22: 7w, + speed, off track
1/21: 3w, no real bias, cold and windy, track given the rare "slow" grade and speed was -4, appeared somewhat tiring although not particularly wet, closers may have done a little better than usual, hard track to gauge though
WESTERN DRAG -
Was parked the mile without cover from post 9 and held okay
MR ERV -
Left from post 8 and was parked to the quarter, yielded and was shuffled with pace
CROSSTHREADED*** -
Was uncovered a long way from 7th and made up 10 lengths to reach the leader, held well for the show with a solid final quarter
MUSGO -
Went first over against a sharp front runner and held okay
FREEHOLD
1/20: 4w, no bias
MEADOWLANDS
1/22: 3w, no bias
NICK FOTIU -
Had post 9, followed cover 5th over, was three wide around the final turn, stacked very wide late on the turn and finished quickly on the far outside
YANKEE DEVIL -
Was 10th and far back early, followed cover at the three quarters and finished well
NEXT FLIGHT -
Had post 9 and moved out on the first turn, flushed excess cover, angled wide late on the final turn and finished evenly; seems in light in C-2, can leave the gate
THAT'S JUSTICE -
Was shuffled to 9th and followed cover, moved four wide on the final turn and wider for the drive and finished well
SPINARAMA -
Followed weak cover third over, rallied wide for the drive and finished fast
VLOS -
Was driven aggressively early but suffered broken equipment while moving towards the lead approaching the quarter and had to be pulled up
MONTICELLO
1/22: 8w, ++ speed
1/21: 4w, no bias, off track, cold and breezy, much more tiring than Monday
1/20: 11w, ++ speed, off track
IM A NICE GIRL -
Was first over a long way, pressed the bias-aided 3-5 winner, held okay
IN THE MIX -
Was third over from post 7, brushed three wide into and around the final turn and held okay from a tough spot
COME TOGETHER -
Followed the winner's quarter move then picked up cover second over, brushed three wide around the final turn and held well for the show
OIL MAGNET -
Saved ground from post 4 but got shuffled to 8th, followed cover at the three quarters and finished with good pace
SEE YOU SMILE -
Had post 8 and was 4th over on a speed favoring track, followed cover wide around the final turn and finished steadily
YONKERS
1/20: 4w, no bias
ODDS ON ALPHA -
Had post 6, followed weak cover and finished fast for the place
SHOW ME UP*** -
Had post 7, followed a poor flow third over and finished solidly but really had no shot
