Harness: Propulsion disqualified from 45 races in Sweden

The Swedish Trotting Association has disqualified North American-bred Propulsion from 45 races in Sweden because the horse was found not eligible to race as he was nerved in both front legs.

Horses nerved are not allowed to race or to be used as a stallion in Sweden.

As a result, $3 million in purse money will be redistributed.

It was after Propulsion's win in the Elitlopp on May 31 that the Norwegian journalist Truls G. Petersen found the information in the USTA's Pathway system that Propulsion had been nerved before being exported to Sweden.

The Swedish Trotting Association has since investigated the case. Today they held a press conference and announced that Propulsion will be disqualified from 45 races in Sweden and that purses won by Propulsion will be redistributed in December to other owners of horses beaten by Propulsion in those races.

Propulsion has also been approved as a sire in Sweden, but will not be allowed to be used in Sweden from 2021. Foals conceived in 2020 will be registered.
