Harness: Prix De France Speed Race slated for this Sunday
Our Sulky champions will offer another exceptional show on Sunday, February 13 at Paris-Vincennes Race course, in the Prix de France Speed Race, the second of the three Finals of the Prix d'Amérique Races ZEturf. Two weeks after the Prix d'Amérique Legend Race, revenge is in the air among the stars of the Competition.
Fifteen trot stars will dart off behind the autostart for a speed event over the short distance of 2100 meters. They will all flirt with overspeed and records could be beaten on that occasion. Thirteen out of the fifteen contenders started in the Prix d'Amérique Legend race two weeks ago. However, the notably shorter distance might change the whole course of things. The fastest trotters of the pack will seize the opportunity to enter the Hall of Fame.
Davidson du Pont, the hero of this year's Sulky World Championship two weeks ago, and winner of the Prix de France Speed Race in 2020, will be at the start of the Prix de France Speed Race this year. Nicolas Bazire's trainee and partner will give all he can and more in spite of an unfavorable number 8 behind the autostart.
Flamme du Goutier, with her recent achievements at the highest level and her 3rd place in the Prix d'Amérique Legend Race, is a potential candidate for success, even more so since she will be number 6 behind the autostart.
The Italian horse Vivid Wise As is a speed-race expert. He will also aim for victory after his convincing fourth place two weeks ago. He will just have to avoid the pitfalls of his number 1 position behind the autostart.
Etonnant, excellent in the Qualifs, did not meet expectations in the Prix d'Amérique Legend Race. Richard Westerink's protégé will be eager to restore his reputation.
Title holder Delia du Pommereux, number 3 behind the autostart, has obtained a good draw. Cockstile winner over the same distance in the Qualif #5 - Prix de Bourgogne, Power, to be driven by triple Gold Sulky Eric Raffin, Rebella Matters, Zacon Gio and Chica de Joudes should also play a leading role.
After an extraordinary racing career, Billie de Montfort will say her final goodbye to Paris-Vincennes. She is eleven years old now, having been entered in her first Group I in February 2014. Due to the age-limit enforced in France, she will no longer be authorized to run after March 31st of this year. She is the richest of the field and finished in 3rd place in the Qualif #5 - Prix de Bourgogne on January 2nd. For her fifth participation in the Prix de France Speed Race, Sebastien Guarato's trainee will have many fans and supporters.
