Harness: Perfect Sting available to New Zealand breeders this Fall

webmaster|May 12, 2023

The owners of Macca Lodge in New Zealand, along with Brittany Stallion Management and the Perfect Sting Syndicate, announced today (May 12) that Perfect Sting will be available to New Zealand breeders for the upcoming season.

The stallion's frozen semen will be distributed by worldwide leader Select Breeders with its final destination Macca Lodge, one of the Southland's premier stud farms. Macca Lodge is owned by Brent, Sheree and Caine McIntyre.

Perfect Sting p,2,1:49. 2/5; 3,1:48 1/5 ($1,808,147), both a Breeders Crown and Dan Patch Champion at both 2 and 3, is by World Champion racehorse and sire Always B Miki p,1:46 and from the fastest 3-year-old pacing filly of all time, Shebestingin p,3,1:47.

In the U.S., standing at Deo Volente Farms in New Jersey, he was bred to a full book of 140 mares in 2022, his first season at stud, and is booked full again this year.

The excitement of having Perfect Sting on its stallion roster is clear when talking to the McIntyres. "Always B Miki needs little introduction down here, his influence and the speed he has introduced to our breed has been a game changer," said Brent McIntyre.

"To be able to offer a history-making son of his who has the depth of pedigree on the maternal side that Perfect Sting has, is truly exciting," he added.

Art Zubrod, manager of Brittany Farms and Stallion Management, said Macca Lodge came highly recommended. "They have shown not only exceptional prowess with frozen semen, but their integrity is second to none. We're looking forward to a long and productive relationship," he said.

Zubrod added that Down Under breeders should stay tuned, as another important announcement could be in store in the near future.

Macca Lodge goes far beyond a stallion base, operating across 600 acres of highly fertile Southland pasture. The property is the largest breeding base and foaling facility in the South Island and provides all that’s necessary to grow young stock into outstanding future racehorses.

The family operation looks to continue well into the future, with son Caine McIntyre taking on a bigger role this season in the overall running of the stud following his stepping up to stud master two years ago.
