Harness: Ohio Selected Jug Sale held, Corazon lands top spot at $115,000

For the second straight year an Uncle Peter half-sibling to Dan Patch Award-winning 2-year-old colt trotter Fourth Dimension topped the Ohio Selected Jug Sale, with HIP 94 Corazon bringing $115,000 from Courant Inc. at today's edition.
Bred by Spring Haven Farm and Doug Millard Holdings, Corazon is out of the Muscle Hill mare Corazon Blue Chip. Last year, her Uncle Peter filly Tu Eres Mi Corazon went through the Ohio Selected Jug Sale, bringing $150,000 from Burke Racing Stable LLC. and partners.
Corazon was the only six-figure seller, but McSchnell, a McArdle colt, fetched $90,000 from Alan Keith. McSchnell, bred by Lmn Bred Stables Inc., is out of The Panderosa mare Pantahlon and is a half-sibling to three six-figure earners, including Rockathon, the runner-up to Lather Up in the Ohio Sires Stakes 3-year-old male pace final.
Spring Haven Farm also had the third-highest seller, with Mr Wiggles colt Mr Wiggle It going to Burke for $80,000. Out of the On The Attack mare Shani Pants, Mr Wiggle It is a full-brother to Mr Wiggle Pants (1:49 4/5, $391,218).
Two Yankee Cruiser fillies rounded out the top-five, with Condoleeza, bred by Sugar Valley Farm, acquired by W.J. Donovan for $72,000, and Silk Angel, bred by Steiner Stock Farm, taken by Odds On Racing Inc. for $72,000. Condoleeza is the fourth foal out of Spring Delight (Bettor's Delight), a full sister to Bettor's Edge (1:48 1/5, $2,161,432), and Silk Angel is the second foal out of Silk Purse (Bettor's Delight, 1:53 2/5, $112,336), a full sister to Malicious (1:50 1/5, $789,479).
The average price for the sale was down 4.4 percent over last year. This year, 242 yearlings sold for an average of $20,370, while in 2017 those numbers were 237 and $21,303. It should be noted these numbers are still higher than other recent Ohio Selected Jug Sales. For instance, in 2015 255 horses fetched an average of $17,347.
