Harness: Northfield, Hoosier cancel Wednesday racing due to air quality concerns
Both MGM Northfield Park and Harrah's Hoosier Park have canceled live racing for Wednesday (June 28) due to concerns over the air quality. Following is releases from both tracks:
Northfield Park
Out of an abundance of caution due to the declining air quality, MGM Northfield Park has canceled their live racing program for Wednesday (June 28).
Qualifiers for Thursday (June 29) will go on as scheduled. Live racing will resume on Saturday (July 1) at 6:00 p.m.
Hoosier Park
Out of an abundance of caution due to the air index quality, which has shown no improvement throughout the day, Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino has canceled the live racing card for Wednesday, June 28.
Harrah’s Hoosier Park 30th season of live harness racing will feature the richest open stakes schedule to date. Worth over a combined $12 million, the 160-day season will be the most lucrative stakes program in the track’s history culminated by hosting the 40th edition of the Breeders Crown events in October. Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s premier pacing event, the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes, is slated for Friday, August 11 and the coveted Breeders Crown events will take place on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28.
