Harness: Marlboro Seelster leads first session of London Selected Yearling Sale
The two-day London Selected Yearling Sale started on Saturday at the Metroland Media Agriplex in London, Ontario, and it would be HIP 25 Marlboro Seelster headlining the proceedings as he went to agent Dr. Ian Moore for C$270,000.
Dr. Moore purchased Marlboro Seelster, a Bettor's Delight colt, for Jeff Snyder. Marlboro Seelster, bred and consigned by Seelster Farms Inc., is out of Macapelo Rose (McArdle, 1:53 3/5, $50,806) and is a half-brother to C$392,395 earner Mayhem Seelster (Mach Three, 1:51 3/5).
One other yearling made it into six figures on Saturday, and that was HIP 39 Full Of Muscles, who went to Ben Baillargeon for C$140,000. Full Of Muscle, who was consigned by Icy Stable, is a Muscle Mass colt and is the second foal out of Windsong Nolwenn, a Donato Hanover half-sister to Windsong Espoir (Kadabra, C$765,386, 1:55 3/5).
The average year-over-year was basically flat, with the gross finishing up. The average for the 119 yearlings sold today was C$28,370, and the total was C$3,376,000. In last year's first session, the average was C$28,700 for 100 horses and the gross was C$2,870,000.
The sale concludes tomorrow beginning at noon with HIPS 125-302 offered.
