Harness: London Selected Yearling Sale closes with declines in average, gross from 2017
The 2018 London Selected Yearling Sale wrapped up on Sunday, and HIP 182 Karma Seelster, who went to Gregg McNair for $127,000, was the top seller on the day. The sale closed with declines in both average and gross over last year's inaugural edition.
Karma Seelster, bred and consigned by Seelster Farms Inc., is a filly by Sportswriter and out of Kiddie Cocktail (Bettor's Delight), which makes Karma Seelster a half-sister to Kendall Seelster (Shadow Play, C$665,150).
The London Selected Yearling Sale average was down eight percent year-over-year (C$22,644 in 2018 v. C$24,627 in 2017). Last year's gross was C$7,536,000 for 306 yearlings, and this year it was C$7,064,800 for 312 yearlings.
The consignor average was headed by Stonebridge Farm (agent) at C$43,333 for 15 yearlings sold. They were followed by Seelster Farms Inc. (C$35,704 / 54 sold) and agent Twinbrook Limited (C$34,864 / 11 yearlings sold).
The top sire by average was Bettor's Delight, who had 15 yearlings go for C$48,033. He was followed by Muscle Mass (C$34,569 / 29 yearlings) and E L Titan (C$32,000 / six yearlings).
