Harness: Lid lifts on 2022 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale
HIP 93 Ponda Marshall, a Helpisontheway half-brother to near $600,000 earner Ponda Adventure, sold for $170,000 to lead the first of two Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale sessions on Friday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Bred and consigned by Pond-A-Acres, Ponda Marshall was purchased by Greg Luther. Ponda Marshall is the third foal out of the Muscle Hill mare Wildflower.
A Helpisontheway filly, HIP 32 Bluebird Choir, took the second spot on the board, going to Denise Dennis for $150,000. Bred by consignor Bluebird Meadows, Bluebird Choir is a half-sister to the likes of Bluebird Reverend [1:53, $600,216].
Half a dozen yearlings made it into six figures during the day, helping to propel the gross to $4,984,200 and the average to $23,963. That gross was up from $4,777,000 a year ago with one more horse sold today than 2021, and the average was up 3.8 percent from $23,077 a year ago.
