Muscle Hill colt Knockout Lindy was purchased by Ken Jacobs for $172,000, headlining the action from the Wednesday session of the 2020 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. Consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing, Inc. as agent, Knockout Lindy is out of Kinda Crazy Lindy, making him a half-brother to the Lucky Chucky gelding Kinda Lucky Lindy ($246,032, 1:54 1/5). First-crop sire Walner and Marcus Melander, as agent for Courant Inc., had the overall top-seller back on Monday in HIP 89 Kadena, and they checked in second on Wednesday when Melander took HIP 392 Play Fiercely for Courant for $160,000.  Play Fiercely, a colt, is the second foal out of the Donato Hanover mare Woman's Will ($602,386, 1:54 1/5).  He was consigned by agent Kentuckiana Farms. The highest-priced pacer on Wednesday was HIP 391 American Classic, an American Ideal colt who went to Wallace Standardbreds for $120,000.  Consigned by Brittany Farms LLC., American Classic is the first foal out of Tori Hanover, a sister to millionaires American Jewel and Luck Be Withyou and to Making Waves, a stakes-winning 2-year-old filly from this year. HIP 417 California Gold gave Muscle Hill another one in the top five on the night as Ake Svanstedt snatched him up for $120,000 from the Kentuckiana Farms (agent) consignment.  California Gold is the initial foal out of Chanel Me (Cantab Hall) and the second dam is former Breeders Crown champion To Dream On. Completing the top five on Wednesday was HIP 470 Bettor Dance, a Bettor's Delight colt who was acquired by John Cancelliere for $120,000.  Spring Haven Farm consigned Bettor Dance, and he is out of Ivana Dance, a Rocknroll Hanover half-sister to Darlin's Delight ($2,905,335).  There were a total of ten yearlings that brought six figures during the session, but, as they did on Tuesday, the gross and average again declined from last year and two years ago.  The gross for 180 yearlings sold was $6,497,000 and the average was $36,094.  Those were down from $7,656,000 / $44,254 for 173 horses sold in 2019 and $6,756,000 /  $41,704 for 162 yearlings sold in 2018. Through three nights, Muscle Hill continues to show the way on the sires list with his 48 yearlings bringing an average of $134,479.  He's followed by Captaintreacherous (28 / $101,357), Walner (51 / $92,902), Somebeachsomewhere (5 / $91,400), and Chapter Seven (38 / $84,789).  The top five buyers thus far are agent Nancy Takter (14 / $1,628,000), Ake Svanstedt (12 / $1,482,000), Andy Miller Stable, Inc. (5 / $1,315,000), Burke Racing Stable LLC. (12 / $1,049,000) and Marcus Melander, agent for Courant Inc. (3 / $995,000). Night four of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale is ahead on Thursday, starting at 7 p.m., and HIPs 507-681 will go through the ring.
