Harness: Julie Miller celebrates birthday with three wins, including her 2,000th career
It was a birthday to remember for Julie Miller this year as she went three-for-three at two tracks on Friday, including scoring career win 2,000 during the matinee program at Freehold Raceway.
At Freehold, Julie teamed with son Tyler to win the fifth race with Keystone Orion in 1:59 4/5 and the sixth with the appropriately-named Age Is A Number in 1:58 1/5. The tally with Keystone Orion was the milestone 2,000th triumph.
Meanwhile, over at Harrah's Philadelphia, husband Andy steered Julie-trained Padre to a 1:58 4/5 verdict in their sixth dash. Andy's stable owns all three of Julie's winners.
Julie won her first race as a trainer in 1993 at Quad City Downs. Her career began to take off in the late 2000's when she and Andy relocated to the East Coast from Illinois. Her stable cracked the $1 million mark in earnings for the first time in 2007 and won more than 100 races for the first time in 2009.
On the year, Miller now has 74 wins from 407 starts, with earnings of more than $3.2 million.
