Harness: Hot Mess Hanover sells for $1 million on Thursday in Harrisburg

Greg Reinhart|Nov 07, 2024

HIP 1178 Hot Mess Hanover, a 10-year-old Cantab Hall mare who is the dam of triple millionaire Walner mare Jiggy Jog S, became the second seven-figure seller at this year's Standardbred Horse Sale when she was purchased by Winning Key for $1 million during the first of two mixed sale sessions on Thursday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Hot Mess Hanover, who sold in foal to Walner, was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing Inc. In addition to Jiggy Jog S, she has also produced the stakes winners Wild Jiggy S (by International Moni) and Margareta Hanover (by Maharajah).

Coming in behind Hot Mess Hanover on the board were HIPs 1056 On Your Tab and 1060 Climb The Pole, who sold for the All American Harnessbreds dispersal. On Your Tab, an 8-year-old Cantab Hall mare who is $745,782 earner Buy A Round's dam, went to Hunterton Farm. Her Chapter Seven filly sold for $330,000 in Lexington earlier this year. Climb The Pole, a 4-year-old Kadabra mare who earned $220,008 and had a mark of 1:52 2/5 during her racing career, was purchased by Armitage Farm.

Another broodmare from the All American dispersal was fourth as HIP 1057 Angelou, the dam of Dan Patch Award winner and Little Brown Jug/Hempt/Adios champion Captain Albano, was purchased by Odds On Racing for $460,000. Angelou's Papi Rob Hanover colt sold for $150,000 earlier this year.

Buy A Round also sold from the All American dispersal as HIP 1055. A multiple stakes-winning 3-year-old daughter of Walner, she was acquired by Armitage Farm for $350,000.

Buoyed by the All American dispersal and the seven-figure sale of Hot Mess Hanover, the year-over-year gross climbed from $15,017,000 to $15,976,000 and the average soared from $38,804 to $46,442.

Friday marks the conclusion of the 2024 Standardbred Horse Sale with the second day of the mixed sale. HIPs 1341-1642 will be available to purchase starting at 11 a.m. (EST).
